WOW! 🥺A dream come true and a special way to start building my portfolio as a scenic designer 🤞🏼😛 I loved every second of this process- even the ups and downs and the urinals we had to hang, but hey we hung a FUCKING URINAL!!! 🚻🧻 This set is so special to me, my child, my first born.
Special shoutout to @theatrebydevelopment and @danielburgess_jr for allowing me to bring this bathroom to life. I seriously mean it when I say I am so proud of the work done. I want to say thank you to @sllvrvlvt , the best production manager around bc without them I wouldn’t even know where to begin. Your help and encouragement really pushed me to design something amazing. And special shoutout to @missxprint for setting the stage with amazing realistic props- you really did your big one with this fr 🤞🏼💕🤩 AND also last but not least thank you to everyone that helped even with the smallest screw or hoisting #ifykyk . This past week was I awarded an award from The Sidney Poitier New American Film School here at ASU for Achievement in Production Design. Let’s talk about it:
Although ASU does not have a specific major for Production Design, that didn’t stop me from searching night and day for ANY classes I could take to further enhance my skills, talking to countless teachers, asking for career and academic advice, and begging my advisor to let me opt out of the Prost Production II avid class😵💫. I have learned and studied about many different topics such as Hand Drafting for theater and stage, 3D Scale Model Making, InDesign, AutoCad, Costume Design, Welding, Carpentry, and so much more. To all of the teachers who have helped me figure out my way -I hold them all in a special place in my heart because without them I wouldn’t be nearly as confident as I could be as a creative entering this profession. I came to ASU confused and alone and i felt like I would never find my passion. And I’m happy to tell you I found it. I am so proud of the person I have become over the past two years working on these wonderful capstones and I can’t wait to see where I go from here.
More specifically, to @freakingchesna@xfrenchfry and @me_line77 !!! Thank you ALL for trusting me with creating the artistic implementation of your vision. 🫶🏻 without you all giving me a chance, I wouldn’t have gotten any award. I love the films we created and show them with pride! We did that!!!! 💕 Each one of you have a bright future as directors and if you ever need anyone to roll joints, do clown makeup, or create dystopian clothes for characters hmu ;).
To all of my lovely Film classmates, I wish I would have met you sooner- but everything happens for a reason. Don’t ever let anyone lower your creative voice. Be loud and tell your story ! I can’t wait to see every single one of you on the big screen (I’ll even stay until the last credit rolls) and no matter what you always have a fan. Good luck to you all 🫶🏻💕🤍🤞🏼
