Our Learners’ Photography Exhibition is Live at Anniesland Library! Adam McIlwaine, our Curriculum Manager has been busy this week creating the most incredible exhibition of our photography students work, which will tour across Glasgow libraries and community spaces, bringing lived experience and creative storytelling to the wider public. This year, our Education Service supported 313 learners, with 91% reporting higher confidence and 83% better wellbeing as they progressed into volunteering and further education. One of our learners, who is now studying HND Photography at @cofgcollege shared “It was only through attending the community photography classes at The Marie Trust that I gained the confidence and self-belief to apply to college. Even when I doubted myself, the staff and my classmates encouraged me. Without their support, I wouldn’t be where I am today.” Their words remind us that education is a lifeline, breaking cycles of homelessness, poverty, and exclusion, and opening doors to creativity, belonging, and future possibilities. Huge thank you to Adam McIlwaine and the wonderful and talented Aleksandra Debiczak, Photography lecturer at Glasgow Kelvin College who teaches our students each year. We are incredibly proud of their work. 👉 Come along and see the impact yourself at Anniesland Library, be inspired, and support our mission to turn learning into lasting change. #StrivingToEndHomelessness #TheMarieTrust #PhotographyExhibition #LivedExperience #EducationForChange

🌟 A Huge Thank You to The National Lottery Community Fund 🌟 We are delighted to share that The Marie Trust has been awarded £348,582 over five years through the Fairer Life Chances programme by The National Lottery Community Fund. This incredible investment will secure the future of our Counselling and Psychotherapy Service, which provides life-saving, trauma-informed mental health support for people experiencing homelessness, addiction, and extreme poverty in Glasgow. In 2024–25 alone, our service: 🧠 Supported 161 clients through 403 sessions, helping them address complex trauma, addiction, and mental health challenges. 💬 Achieved a 53% reduction in psychological symptoms (CORE-34 measure). ⏱ Maintained waiting times under six weeks, compared with NHS targets of 18 weeks. 💡 Provided a low-threshold service — no cap on treatment length and a simple referral process, ensuring people get help when they need it most. “The Marie Trust recognises the complex realities of those it supports. Its trauma-informed, flexible approach meets people where they are, offering safety, trust, and dignity.” — Independent Evaluation, Scottish Drug Forum This service is vital at a time when Glasgow faces record drug deaths, homelessness, and health inequalities. Many of our clients have been excluded from other systems due to addiction, criminal justice involvement, or stigma. People do not need to be abstinent to use this service. With this funding, we can continue to break the cycle of homelessness and trauma, helping individuals rebuild their lives and create pathways to stability and hope. Thank you to the National Lottery Community Fund for believing in our mission and helping us create a fairer future. 💙 #TheMarieTrust #MentalHealthMatters #HomelessnessSupport #TraumaInformedCare #FairerLifeChances
