We're so excited to see you all 🌺
To those who are new here (and to those who’ve been here), you might know The MAP’D Project through our art that explores our filipino culture and roots, but in reality that’s only a fraction of it!
As Mental Health Awareness Month approaches us in May, here’s a little background of how The MAP’D Project even first came about.
The simplest way I can describe MAP’D: it’s a creative outlet to help us navigate our lives & rediscover ourselves.
We all process things very differently and that’s what makes us all so unique. The MAP’D Project is a space for us to fully express ourselves (unapologetically).

For now, we’re saying “see you later.”
After an incredible journey, we are no longer operating out of Mess Hall. We’re so grateful for @messhalldc for being such an amazing community kitchen and a place that helped bring our dream to life.
To every customer, friend, and supporter who showed up for us over the years — thank you. Thank you for every order, every kind word, and for being part of the community we built together. We truly loved creating, cooking, and sharing our food with you all.
As we step into new chapters and pursue other dreams, our kitchen will be on hiatus for the time being. This business meant the world to us, and none of it would have been possible without your support.
This isn’t necessarily goodbye forever — you may still catch us at a few pop-ups here and there. But for now, we’ll simply say: see you later.
With love and gratitude, thank you for everything.
💜Maria & Danny

old hands, young hands. matriarchy to the front!
I am so so blessed to be surrounded by mothers, older sisters, girl friends, colleagues, and women that inspire me so much.

With Mother’s Day and Father’s Day coming up, I created these illustrations as a love letter to my parents. 🤍
Back in 1982, they built one of the very first sari-sari stores in our small neighborhood in Antipolo. It wasn’t just a place to buy snacks, canned goods, or toiletries. It became a little hub for the community. Somewhere people could gather, and hang out.
My mom ran the store, and a few years later, my dad started a jeepney service just for students (because let’s be real, riding with a bunch of strangers as a kid on the way to school? kinda scary).
Together, they built these businesses not just to make a living, but to serve their neighbors and keep family and community at the center of everything.
I think that’s why I’m so drawn to doing markets and sharing my art. Hearing their stories reminds me what it means to create with intention and I hope my work can carry even a small piece of that forward (or at least help keep these kinds of stories alive).
The last slide is me & my childhood friends standing in front of our sari sari store 🥹 (the only photo I have of the store).
