Presents WRITTEN ELSEWHERE by Samuel Blankson Running from 01.05 - 12.05 at BLEUR GALLERY, 2 Seymour Place, London, W1H 5AZ, Mon-Fri 12:00-6:00pm, Sat 11am-4pm, Sun by appnt only. This body of work is informed by lived experience shaped through life, culture, and the influence of other people’s opinions. It considers ideas of control and power, returning repeatedly to questions of « why » and « what if. » These questions are guided by an ongoing internal dialogue that shapes how emotion, memory, and the presence of death are understood and processed in everyday life. The figures are presented in a state of restraint, stitched, sealed, and locked. This operates both as a response to external pressure and as a deliberate act of focus and self-preservation. By restricting what is expressed and what is heard, the work holds a tension between protection and restriction, reflecting on what it means to remain true to oneself within a world that is constantly producing noise. RSVP in bio for the PV on Wednesday 6 May 6-10pm. *** Thank you to The Portman Estate and Meanwhile On for making it possible.
