BEWARE THE FLOWERS … is here. I laid down demos for this album in late 2019. Then I moved. Then 2020 happened. Oy vey. In 2022 I met Sam and we started playing together. Things got pretty serious. Somehow our second show was at Turf Club? Before the year was through we got Kevin, one of my oldest friends. Now it’s September 19th, 2024 and you can hear ten songs that I think when together, sum up the last few years for me. As always, I got to get my friends in on the fun. Thank you Solomon Lindenberg (@solomon.lindenberg ) , Zephyr Ciesar (@zephyrciesar ) , and Charlie Echardt for making time for the Makeouts. Thank you David Smrz for recording this album in my grandparents barn over a chilly 3 day weekend in October last year. David absolutely nailed it. A master of his craft. Thank you Bruce Butkovich (@brucebutkovich ) , mixing engineer, and Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering (@mystery_room_mke ) for cradling the dynamics and nuances in these weird little songs. I will never be able to thank Sam or Kevin. enough for everything they’ve done. This album looks and sounds as great as it does because I’m lucky enough to have both these guys love these songs as much as they do. I missed this kids 5th birthday last year but today my first EP, HAYMAKER, turns six whole years old. I had no idea what I was doing when I wrote it, when I recorded it, or anything that followed afterwards. But I wasn’t alone. I was lucky to have people alongside me that been around the block when it came to cutting records.. and probably much more. Like the rest of my music, you can find this pretty much anywhere but Spotify. I always manage to find a couple copies of it on CD in the backseat of my car. If you can take the time to give it a listen today, do what I try to do and embrace the “mistakes” and “inconsistencies”. These are songs that came in and out of grief and love. Enjoy 🖤
