Having fun exploring some 2d VFX Animation for a change! Using my son as a canvas here, playing with a toy repulsor glove… channeling his inner Tony Stark. Seemed appropriate with all the toys he was gifted from family, friends and Santa ofcourse 😊🎄🎁.

Animation by @thejoelmac : "Finaling any project takes a lot of time and focus. While finaling the Dead Space Remake, it was helpful to have the flexibility and versatility of Callipeg on the iPad, for when energy and free time presented itself outside of my day job. In the evenings it was refreshing to sit back and explore our hero Isaac in 2D after spending the day working in 3D! And Callipeg made it easy to do that anywhere I found myself (in front of the TV, on the couch, at the kitchen table).
This was the first time I experimented with colour in Callipeg. I worried, since my line quality tends to be rough, that the colour process would take a long time… however I wasn’t pleasantly surprised to see how quick and efficient it was (even while working in many layers!). It’s encouraged me to bring more animations to full colour!"
Working on the Dead Space remake, I really wanted to try my hand at what our hero Isaac could look and feel like in 2D. Here’s my crack at a quick 2D shot from one of our iconic Drag Tentacle chase sequences.
90% of this was done in @callipeg.app on the iPad Pro(including like work & colour passes), with some comp and lighting work being done in #adobeaftereffects

I’ve been experimenting with the ‘Look Development’ of a short film I’ve been working on for a while now. I used this shot to test out the style and ‘look’ as well as the workflow. Aside from all the design work that went into this, this shot was 95% accomplished through the @callipeg.app . There was some minor comp and lighting work done in AfterFX as a finishing touch.
It’s been an eventful summer to say the least! I’ve been trying to enjoy every minute and be present with @tiffanytaylorphysio and Weston, while we adapt to new schedules, routines and responsibilities. Through it all, it’s been so amazing to have the support of my sweetheart and see her blossom into a wonderful, caring, extraordinary mother. I couldn’t be more excited and proud to be sharing this life with her… and I’m so happy she said ‘Yes’! I look forward to every day with you and I love you with all my heart my sweet!
