May 8, 2026: Ingrown with Witness Chamber, Private Hell, Negative Force and Torment at Cobra Cabana (RVA)

Boise, Idaho’s Ingrown and Witness Chamber played Cobra on a gorgeous Friday evening in Richmond.
I missed Ingrown the last time they came around so I made sure not to miss this one.
It was weird not having the canopy over head but was told it got destroyed during the ice storm.
Negative Force getting added last-minute was a nice bonus, too.
The event was a mixture of darkness and red lighting so I had to play around in post to balance the mood of the evening and ability to see in the video. I think I found the happy medium in my final versions.

First off, I don’t have day one videos because I arrived in time for the final three bands due to a work commitment.
We missed out on WMD and Lose Sight on the second day because Bennett got stuck in traffic and we weren’t able to get set up in time. Our apologies to both bands…
On a positive note, I’m happy to get these videos out there!
We were the only ones shooting multi-cam and felt we got coverage others didn’t. If you thought this was something, wait until we get cameras 4-6 for future shows along with board audio (no, seriously)!
It was a great evening for a great fest and Bennett and I were honored to have captured what we could.
We hadn’t worked together due to work/family constraints but we made it a point shoot UB this year.

April 23, 2026: Paper Trail with The S.E.T., Hellrazor, Victim of Suffering and Sentenced to Life at The Vanguard (Hampton, VA)

Had a rare off day so I trekked across the water to check this show out.
I’m always down to see Paper Trail as many times as possible as they hosted The S.E.T. from Baltimore.
This was my first time shooting the spot so there’s a learning curve on my end as to managing the shot.
I did get some audio assistance from the sound guy on duty whose name I can’t recall…But he was very friendly and accommodating so I needed to make sure he got some credit for this!
Oh and if you saw 757 HC shows in the 90s, this is where DJ Joe works at. He was on the premises but this wasn’t his show.

This evening was a double Bday celebration for two members in Mean Jesus and they celebrated with a show of friends in other bands.
I think it was Ian and Matt’s birthdays?
Anyhoo, I wasn’t able to put out both MJ and Captive Birds’ sets because my recorder stopped in the middle of both performances.
I didn’t want to put out half sets so I made the decision to forgo it this time. Apologies to the bands…
But I was able to capture the others in what was a multi-genre/mixed bill evening.

As I was going thru some flash drives and SD cards to clear up space, I discovered a clean field recording that I didn’t find the first time I put out this video.
Wanting to give this video a second shot with better audio, I reworked and reposted it.

April 1, 2026: Prime Suspect with Subjects and Self-Inflict at the Taphouse (NFK)

It’s been almost two years since Prime Suspect last played (and almost half a year for Self-Inflict) but the band made its appearance on this April Fool’s evening with RVA’s Subjects.
The joke was on me as my field recorder crapped out not once, but twice during the local bands’ sets.
In order to save the footage, I kept Self-Inflict’s video raw while integrating PA vocals to Prime Suspect’s footage. I didn’t get PA vocals for Self-Inflict, unfortunately…
And this is the end result of what I could salvage. Subjects’ set is good while the rest had to be worked on creatively in order to keep them. Apologies for the delay and weird sound!

Judge played a sold-out show in RVA with Baltimore’s The S.E.T. and locals Naysayer, Reaction Time and Against the World.
