The Fate of Earl Mann is one of those songs we just seem to always revisit. First written for a documentary about Clarence Elkins it was then redone for the Four Letter Town LP. later revisited in a couple different band line-ups as a slow psyche rock lately it's been this more dark Americana murder ballad style, here with Sylvia Mitchell sitting in on viola and harmonica.
Scary the way time flies... this old vid of a demo making in progress from 2011. 'Walking to Virginia' Having grown up in urban and fairly open minded settings I can idealize a bit but getting out of those small towns is the right move for so many, particularly the people I knew that this song is about.

We know we’ve been a little quiet but we’ve been plotting and are emerging from the cocoon.
