We're pleased to be supporting an artistic residency by photographer and poet Inès Bouallou at @thegrangeprojects , Norfolk, UK in June.⁠ ⁠ @inesbouallou has been selected by The Foundation for Art & Psychoanalysis, in collaboration with the British Council in Morocco @ma_british ⁠ ⁠ Her work focuses on gender and the body as a non-gendered object of research and study. Bouallou’s photographic approach, where the self-portrait is a major iconographic theme, allows her to distance herself from contemporary pictorial standards while reinventing old pictorial aesthetics whose value is based on the duality of self and other. ⁠ ⁠ During her residency at Grange Projects, Inès will continue work on her ongoing project Hide-and-Seek. This project is the culmination of several years of work and introspection; it is not an end in itself but a process of continuity: discovering oneself, exploring one’s true self, engaging in self-dialogue, unmasking oneself, and finally, expressing oneself without pretence.⁠ ⁠ 'Who am I when no one is watching me? Who am I when I look at myself?' ⁠ ⁠ 'Which mirror truly reflects me? Which gazes judge me deeply? Which hand soothes me languidly? Which image deceives me completely? NEW ARTWORK from YIELD my graphic novel in progress (publication November 2026) Exhibiting @supermarketart Stockholm 23-26 April 2026 with @blackwaterpolytechnic @thegrangeprojects The storyline of YIELD is structured around rehearsals for a performance of Danse Macabre, based on Hans Holbein’s series of woodcuts with the same title. YIELD is set at Black Mountain College, N Carolina in 1937, and my uncle composed the music for a performance of Danse Macabre which took place there. We're preparing for @supermarketart Erskinehuset, Hallvägen 21, 121 62 Johanneshov, gathering material for our presentation. Spacetime: awkward;-) is a collaborative project by @blackwaterpolytechnic and @thegrangeprojects that responds to an accelerated and unstable world by building slowly, with skillful labour, friction and joyful imperfection. The stand works as a shared environment where polish gives way to presence, and where awkwardness becomes a way of looking harder, staying longer and making space for conversation. Be difficult.
