The arrival of @iowtomatoes in the kitchen means we’re creeping towards summer 🍅
This new seasonal side showcases them at their best, homemade crispy chilli oil, a punchy salsa verde and a base of creamy, Yorkshire pecorino custard.
Scotch eggs have been done dirty.
Ours are the opposite, local eggs, woodland-reared pork, crisp golden coating, and a proper runny yolk worth chasing.
Served with homemade brown sauce. Exactly as it should be.
Introducing our new monthly feast: Hayloft Dinners.
Once a month, 20 seats round a communal table and four courses centred on a theme - a celebration of truffle perhaps, or the arrival of game season.
Our first on 28th May is aptly named The First Feast to give you a flavour of what’s to come. Treat it as date night, come with friends or fly solo (we’re a friendly bunch).
A mix of pub classics and refined dishes we’re proud not to gatekeep. This is one of them.
Cured Chalkstream trout in a silky white garlic ajo blanco, lifted with dill oil.
Finished with white grapes, pickled cucumber, radish, bronze fennel and fennel pollen.

Slowly built for creaminess, lifted with pea, mint and sorrel, and finished with Yorkshire pecorino and mascarpone.
Topped with fresh spring veg and a final hit of wild garlic oil and lemon balm.

On days like this, the fish cake is the one, crisp, comforting and made even better with a fennel salad and dill butter sauce. Light enough for lunch, satisfying enough to linger over.
