I was so honored to carry the pictures and stories of 11 precious kids from Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo with me to the Children’s Emmys. Their powerful words were embroidered into my dress and I told everyone about them and how we need to help in every way possible. To the kids - we see you, we care about you, we love you, we stand with you Please support @sudanese_american_physicians & @thefutureofcongo I didn’t win the Emmys but that doesn’t matter at all. I’m happy for everyone and it was a hopeful, inspiring show with so many people who care about kids. @theemmys.tv Im so grateful to @risakostis for finding the vintage used dress and so much more that I’m going to share in another post. I’m so grateful for the team that put so much love, care and kindness into this tonight Tags: @risakostis - everything ever, stylist @stephaniepowersmakeup_ - make up @francescadidit - hair @designmabel - tailor @lwpearlatelier - embroidery @hibzz11 - so much, being with the kids with me, helping with all the details & quotes & pictures

The suffering of millions is not a distant problem. It is a moral x-ray that reveals the fractures in global solidarity. Join this noble cause by THE FUTURE OF CONGO as we rebuild the DRC, brick by brick. 🎥 taken by @isaac__jimmy

World’s fair, which included a ‘human zoo’ displaying Black men, women, and children in their supposed ‘native conditions’ found in the Congo, then a Belgian colony. The people used were abused and taunted by white spectators, who threw money and bananas over the bamboo fence to try to provoke a reaction. One Belgian journalist reported on how, on one occasion, a white woman threw half a candy bar over the fence to a young Congolese boy, who promptly threw it back at her « without even looking up, with an air of noble contempt. » The Congolese people in the exhibit, as well as Congolese workers in the fair, were housed in an isolated building, in cramped accommodation with restrictions on receiving visitors or being able to leave. The exhibition was widely praised in Belgium at the time, with even socialist newspaper Le Peuple declaring that its "story... [was] in complete agreement with historical truth", and showed how Congolese people had been brought from "the night of prehistory to the light of civilisation". Authorities intended for the exhibit to continue until October, however, they were forced to return the Congolese inhabitants home in July due to them resisting their inhumane treatment, and not tolerating it any further. Racist human zoos took place in many countries, including the US, UK, Germany, and Norway, with the last one we are aware of being held in France in 1994. Posted By admin : @mm__jonathan

None of this would be possible without your support, donations, prayers, and encouragement. Thank you for believing in our mission and standing with the people of Congo. 🙏🏾 As we continue growing these projects, we are still welcoming support and looking to partner with organizations, foundations, and individuals who believe in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and community rebuilding in Eastern Congo. Together, we are building hope, dignity, and opportunities for the next generations🫶🇨🇩

The major genocides in Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, East Turkestan, Palestine, and Tigray share a commonality: governments attempting to suppress populations they deem a threat for their own benefit. We cannot focus on a single genocide in isolation, as they are all interconnected. True freedom will only be achieved when all groups are liberated from genocidal regimes. We cannot rely on our governments to create the change we demand. We must take the initiative by educating people in our communities. As grassroots activists around the world, we need to adopt a bottom-up approach. We must support each other in raising awareness and striving for change. Cc @nationalcallforpeace

Une idée. Quelques livres. 🇨🇩✨ #RBFusion #EducationRDC #Butembo #ImpactSocial #FraisScolaires JeunesseEngagée Congo TheFutureOfCongo
