every time I work with Ko-Jo Cue, I'm reminded of why I do what I do. the care and intention that went into the making of KANI: A Bantama Story is always to be expected on a Cue project, and so is the genius storytelling that bears witness to our everyday experiences of trying to survive being alive. and while I've also known for a long time now just how much his art connects with his listeners (see: For My Brothers), it does still feel surreal to receive not one, or two, or three, but FOUR nominations at the TGMAs this year. I'm grateful to be part of an album that resonates so deeply with people. and to witness the long overdue recognition for one of the most profound voices of our generation, Ko-Jo Cue.
if you haven't already, do well to vote before voting closes.
with deep gratitude,

What unfolds in this original production is a story of silence, power and the truths our communities often struggle to face.
This clever whodunnit juxtaposes with original music by thefrayedjacket blends music and theatre with real life. It brings to the forefront the voices too often unheard, confronting rape culture and gender inequalities in our communities.
