We had the greatest honor of getting an intimate performance by @jenniferkohmusic as part of our Seen Here event series in collaboration with @joshuadavidstein And journalist/music critic Corinna da Fonseca-Wollheim @corinnadfw joined us to draw and later document her experience. Taco night! Thanks to @santo.taco for suppling the inspiration for another wonderful @progressive_hedonist event! We learned about sustainable food practices, drew, collaged, animated!!!, and ate lots of tacos. 🌮 100% of tonight’s ticket sales goes to @foodeducationfund
Speed Portrait Night - we rotate every six minutes drawing each other. 156 portraits were made but the wall all together is what we consider the final artwork. Great vibes last night.
Last night we were so thrilled to have contortionist and performer @annavenizelos in the studio. Coming from a background of gymnastics and dance, Anna told us about how she pursued acrobatics, silks, contortion and toured with Cirque du Soleil! She took us through her warm up and performed a series of astounding poses. We were so awed by the beauty of the lines her body made and her strength to hold those poses. Artists used a variety of materials to capture her shapes. We are so grateful for the exchange of craft we got to do. This is part of a series we do with journalist/author @joshuadavidstein called Seen Here where we celebrate unexpected subjects. Part interview/part figure drawing, and always something a little different.
An intimate night of drawing each other’s personal objects in eight minutes each- a grandfather’s bowling trophy, a century old camera, a skull sculpted in art school…Putting all the drawings on the wall at the end was the best part. Everyone decided to trade drawings in the end, taking home others drawings of their object. This was our first time trying this event and I learned a lot about how to tweak it to be even more fun. So we will try it again sometime soon! Thanks to everyone who came and drew!
