As part of our ongoing exhibition ‘a tender contemplation on the act of observing’ curated by Sara David and Ellen Warner.
Join us on Wednesday, 3rd December, from 6:30-8 pm, as we screen five incredibly poignant moving image works by artist filmmakers in our gallery for one night only!
RSVP via Link in our Bio! 🎟️
Our film night lineup includes:
🎞️ Still, In Motion | Dir. Hemali Khoosal (
@hemalikhoosal )
Unfolding through the window of a moving train, sunlight filters through trees, flickering window reflections shift and reshape, drifting across changing landscapes, and words appear and disappear like thoughts.
🎞️ Bridge | Dir. Martha Burgin (
@stoplookingatmyshirt )
The film explores solitude with its depiction of vast landscapes contrasted by images of cities, glimpses of domesticity and the boundary between the private and public sphere. Intimate shots inside the house contrast with the expansive spaces beyond it.
🎞️ We Are Not Ones Who Say Much | Dir. Soe-Myat Noe (
@xoemyat )
This work is an emotional film exploring the filmmaker’s personal experience of undergoing treatment for cancer as a young adult, focusing on the communication and shared trauma between herself and her mother.
🎞️ and the night falling over us (like a home) | Dir. (yue)fei li (
@yuefei___ )
At night, the city of London empties itself, leaving behind faint traces of life. A state of suspension, time becoming glacial and desire shimmers, the silence of catastrophe echoing.
🎞️ She Sells Shellfish | Dir. Lily Tiger Tonkin-Wells (
@lilbobagginz )
The film is a collage of two Welsh women’s lives with those of the distant past. Archival footage meets contemporary black and white super 8, in a curious exploration of the female cockle gatherers of South Wales and the surprising secrets shellfish and seaweed hold for our oceans’ health.
We’re thrilled to bring these talented emerging voices from the artist moving image scene under one roof!
Hope to see you there!
Love,
Sara & Ellen :)
There will be light snacks 🍿
