As @shotbyjazzmin would say "Shooters Shoot Shooters!” Got the privilege to meet @daquan.terrence a few days ago. Not only was I able to meet a visionary, a great artist, and a great person, I also met a man who has that same type of hunger. Wanting his art to speak to people. Not letting the algorithm dictate his motion. It’s an example of artistic freedom that every artist should strive for. From our conversation, I learned that beauty is in the unconventional & unexpected. There’s no black and white (no pun intended) when it comes to expression. These are the type of creatives I’m happy to know and call a friend. Looking forward to what the future holds for black artists. One Love 🖤

Chapter Two: Mindin My Black Owned Business

Something about walking into a black owned business gives me a sense of energy. Hope. Inspiration. It all encompasses the path that was forged by our ancestors. It’s what they represented. That hope and inspiration is what gives our people the strength innovate. These are some of my favorite black owned establishments in Tacoma. The amount of black excellence in this city palpable. It only inspires me to keep going. I hope it inspires all of us to do better.

BNW FRIDAZE Chapter IV
This shoot with @needleandpine represents something special to me. At the time this shoot took place I was coming off a long break from shooting after several months. I had lost vision, motivation, and creative energy. I forced myself to go all the way to Seattle to this creator event. Coming off months of not shooting and battling imposter syndrome, I basically felt like a fish out of water.
This is the first setup I had the pleasure of shooting. The scene was not only elegant, but magnetic. Magnetic in the sense of pulling my creative energy back out. I felt reawakened. During times like this, we have to remind ourselves that even when things seem uncertain, stepping out and believing in ourselves can create something powerful within. Continue to push.

Chapter One: Continuous Growth

Its funny. You never know the impact you can have on someone with your energy. I got the opportunity to work with this nice lady who works in real estate and she was open about her nervousness. As an artist who appreciates vulnerability, I took it in stride and led with positive energy and she quickly came out of her shell a bit and turned into a natural. Moral of the story: continuous growth is the result of positive energy. Growth and positive energy all 2026 and beyond.

The mental aspect is the most crucial part of this art form. There’s no shame in stepping away to gather yourself. We often let hustle culture become our identity, especially in the pursuit of success or perceived perfection. In order to create your best art you have to know who you are and what you want out of it. I stepped away to find my purpose for pursuing this art form. I now know I want to inspire those who feel they are limited. Lost at Sea…..
What I thought was a sea of misfortune.
Was really the shallow depths of my reality.
As I casually clash with my morality.
The reality is that I’m imperfect.
But how does imperfection create the perfect storm.
Hailing down on me with force.
Forcing me to come face to face with the source.
The source of my transgressions.
In essence, imperfection became my insurrection.
An uprising against my reality and morality.
Only to realize my idea of imperfection was a fallacy.
And with that I gradually come face to face with truth.
