Big news, period people 🩸
PCOS has officially been renamed PMOS — polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome. After 14 years of work and 22,000+ voices, the new name finally reflects what people with this condition have always known: it’s NOT just an ovary problem.
✨ 1 in 8 people with ovaries live with it
✨ 70% don’t know they have it
✨ The “cysts” were never actually cysts
✨ It affects skin, mood, metabolism, energy — not just periods
If something has felt “off” in your body for a long time, please don’t brush it aside. You’re not being dramatic. You deserve real answers💗

@timelyinteractions , in collaboration with @thecoraproject , recently facilitated a beautiful women’s wellness session at @scalabrinict focused on movement, grounding, hormone health, and emotional well-being.
Women from different backgrounds and migration journeys came together in a space of learning, reflection, and connection; reminding us how important integration, safe spaces, and community care truly are.
We love creating spaces that support mental well-being, healing, and self-understanding through practical and human-centred experiences.
We are open to collaborations, partnerships, workshops, and community wellness spaces. Let’s grow and make a difference together.
Many thanks to @thecoraproject and @aurora_wellbeing for the Mother's day pamper packs!

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) affects approximately 1 in 10 women worldwide, and one of the most common signs is irregular, infrequent, or missing periods. 🩸
For some, that means skipping months.
For others, it means unpredictable cycles or heavier, more painful periods.
We’re often taught that periods should be “on time” every month, and when they’re not, it can feel confusing, frustrating, or even isolating. 🩷
But the reality is:
a “normal” cycle looks different for everyone.
Understanding conditions like PCOS is an important step in breaking the stigma around periods, because awareness leads to earlier diagnosis, better support, and less shame. 🌟

Supporting menstrual education in communities where it matters most 🤍
At a recent workshop at Izmideen Primary in Pretoria, our educational resources helped support a menstrual awareness session for young girls. Despite facing poverty and social challenges, many learners are determined to build a different future 🌱
Access to information is as important as access to products. Understanding their bodies gives girls confidence, responsibility, and the strength to keep showing up for their education 💛
We are grateful to the educators who create safe spaces for these conversations! #workshop #period
This month, we facilitated an online menstrual health education training with incredible CorpsAfrica volunteers serving communities across Limpopo and parts of North West, including Ga-Sekororo, Tzaneen, Mopani District, Loss Village, Madeira, Jele and Moretele & Taung🩷
The session created space for honest conversations around menstrual health, hygiene, cycle tracking, PCOS and breaking stigma in culturally respectful ways. Volunteers shared a powerful commitment to ensuring young girls are informed, supported, confident and never limited because of their periods.
We believe menstrual health is about more than products, it is about education, dignity, confidence and access.
We love partnering with schools, organisations and community groups to expand menstrual health education. If you would like to collaborate with us, reach out 💜✨ #periods #menstrualhealth #educate
Love Yourself Loud.
Love Others Louder.
This February, we’re extending our Love Yourself Loud movement beyond self-expression and into collective care.
Around 7 million girls and women in South Africa don’t have access to basic sanitary products every single month. Period poverty is real - and it impacts dignity, health, education, and opportunity.
So throughout the entire month of February, we’re running collection points at all four Piercery stores in collaboration with Cora The Group.
You can donate sanitary products in-store or contribute funds, which we’ll use to order essential items through our suppliers. We’re also repurposing our advent boxes from last year — filling them with these donations to create thoughtfully curated care packs that will be packed at the end of February and donated in March.
We’re calling on our community, our Sparkle Squad, and brands who have the means to get involved - whether through product donations or meaningful contributions that help make these care packs even more special.
Loving yourself is powerful.
Loving others louder is how we make change.
If you’d like to be part of this initiative, visit any of our stores this month 🤍
There’s so much misinformation out there about menstruation, but we’re here to set the record straight!
Knowledge is power, and breaking the stigma starts with education. 💪💖

Love Yourself Loud.
Love Others Louder. 💗
This February, we’re turning self-expression into collective care.
We’re proud to be partnering with @thecoraproject for a month-long sanitary collection drive supporting girls and women facing period poverty in South Africa.
Because loving yourself loud doesn’t stop at new piercings and stacked lobes - it extends into showing up for others, too.
You can:
💗 Donate any sanitary products in-store
💗 Or purchase sanitary products at checkout and we’ll donate on your behalf
Donation points available at all four Piercery stores throughout February.
Small actions. Big impact.
Let’s love others louder. 💞
As Period Action Day draws closer, we wanted to raise awareness around the stigma that exists around bleeding. 🩸
We’ve been conditioned to feel embarrassed, to hide pads up our sleeves, to apologise for being “moody”, when in reality, menstruation is one of the most natural and powerful processes our bodies go through.
As a community, we need unlearn the shame and bleed with pride.🩷✨
Our periods deserve conversation, not concealment. #period #periodproud

TGIF🥳 and time for another #PeriodPower story by @luvlifebywest founder of @timelyinteractions + consultation at The CORA Project 🩸
“One day, I decided it was time to tidy things up a bit down there, you know, a little self-care moment during my period. I had my tampon in and got to trimming. Everything was going fine until I suddenly realized... I couldn’t see the string😱
Yup. I had accidentally snipped it right off. Panic! For a few seconds I thought I’d need to call for backup. But then I took a deep breath, remembered my anatomy lessons and those Kegel exercises and with a bit of focus, I managed to get it out safely😅
Lesson learned: our bodies are amazing, groom always not when there’s a forest down there and multitasking with scissors is no go”😂🩷 #period #periodproud #storytime
