The Comic Workshop is excited to partner with long standing comic book advocate and store My Parents Basement for 2 weeks of Summer Camps. "Blast From the Past" Week is all about retro gaming. Campers will learn about retro comic books and animation of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. "Super Hero Classics" Week is all about the golden age of comics that brought us Batman, Superman, Captain America and more. During this week campers will get the opportunity to dine in at My Parents Basement, play pinball machines, and explore their in-house comic collections as part of their camp experience. The Comic Workshop is Metro-Atlanta's only art camp that exclusively focuses on comic books and comic art. These featured camp weeks are: "Pixelated Creator" Week is all about the art and characters used in video games. Learn about traditional and digital art making for Minecraft, Roblox and more! "Love of The Game" Week is all about sport comic books and manga. Campers will explore sport comic books and create their own! "Myths & Legends" Week is all about fantasy themed comic books and characters across mediums. Campers will design their own fantastical characters and make a comic book with their creations. Campers will have the option of purchasing gourmet lunches to power their week of making comics! Pokémon Trainers unite! Let's Catch Monsters is for all our card collecting and little monster loving kiddos! Catch them all in this week of camp as we explore monster capture and monster taming in comic books, TV shows and movies like Pokémon, Digimon, Yo-Kai Watch. Campers will take inspiration from these popular characters to create their own monsters and fabricate real custom trading cards. Featured Lunch Partner: This week of camp is partnering with Leftie Lee’s Bakery + Sandwich shop. Chef Viv is a master Pokémon Trainer and is creating a custom Pokémon themed box lunch. Japanese inspired comic art camp themes supported by local restaurant Enso Izakaya! @enso.atl We can't talk about comics without talking about the powerhouse industries of Manga, Anime, giant robots like Gundam or Power Rangers and Kaiju like Godzilla and Ultraman! The Comic Workshop is excited to offer a cultural perspective of these beloved Japanese themes and industries by partnering with Enso Izakaya. The Comic Workshop X City of Lawrenceville! @the_dtl May 2nd aka FREE COMIC BOOK DAY TCW got the opportunity to present 2 free community comic art activations for the City of Lawrenceville's DTL CON-Quest! Phillip Fleming ( @phillys1y ) illustrated the paint by numbers activity that was printed as an 8FT x 2FT Vinyl poster. Guests used permanent markers to help color it in. Daniel Tilley ( @daniel.tilley ) was gracious to help lead 2 free zine workshops and facilitate the entire TCW activations for the day. Team work makes the dream work! April's Artist Meet Up was a great time! We shared comic industry news, upcoming events, celebrated new self published books, did a mad lib style drawing challenge, had a mini critique and ended the night with good old networking and conversation! May is taken over by Free Comic Book Day events. Our next monthly meet up will be June at the Buford location of @galacticquest See you then!
