At @govtechcon , I had the honor of delivering a TED-TALK style talk on some of the most critical topics in AI and cybersecurity. 👩🏾‍💻 💕From exploring the history and function of AI models to understanding the risks of large language models, prompt engineering, and OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, we dug into what it takes to secure AI adoption and protect sensitive data. While much of the conversation around AI often focuses on the end-user experience, not enough attention is given to securing the AI systems themselves—an essential step in ensuring they function as intended and don’t become tools for exploitation. We discussed why securing AI is just as critical as developing it, from mitigating vulnerabilities to protecting the integrity of these transformative technologies. 💕As a Black woman in cybersecurity, where we make up less than 2% of the field, this work feels deeply personal. Representation matters, and I’m proud to use my voice to drive these important conversations. 👩🏾‍💻AI is shaping so much of our world, and biases in these systems make it crucial that we’re at the table—helping drive decisions and creating the products we use daily. My hope is that talks like this spark curiosity and empower more of us to confidently contribute in these spaces.
