The Chamber Session at The World Stage in Leimert Park delivered an evening where classical elegance and spiritual jazz met in perfect harmony. Featuring the incomparable Brian Hargrove, vocalist Dwight Trible, and conductor Double G, the night unfolded as a meditation in sound… intimate, healing, and deeply intentional.
The evening opened with Double G conducting a stunning string ensemble that immediately set the tone for the night. The quartet featured Rocio Marron and Tylana Emonoto on violin, Vainayaki Suvaji on viola, and AJ Fanningi on cello, with Mike Alvidrez on double bass and Ahmad Dubose Dawson on percussion adding depth and texture. Under Double G’s direction, the ensemble moved gracefully through layered arrangements that blended classical precision with the emotional openness of jazz.
When Brian Hargrove took the reins at the piano, the room shifted into a deeper space. Leading the string ensemble and band, Hargrove guided the musicians through soothing, contemplative compositions that felt less like performance and more like a collective exhale. Each note seemed to settle gently into the room, wrapping the audience in warmth and reflection.
With Dwight Trible’s unmistakable voice soaring above the arrangements, the music took on a spiritual dimension. His vocal phrasing carried both power and tenderness, echoing through The World Stage… a venue long known as a sanctuary for music rooted in community and cultural lineage.
Together, the musicians created an evening that felt restorative. The Chamber Session proved that when master musicians gather with intention, music can do more than entertain… it can heal.
