In the middle of a financially devastating year, CAASE served 244 survivors of sexual harm - more than they had ever served before. In this clip from Gathering Ground, Kaethe Morris Hoffer talks about that milestone, the growing work with incarcerated survivors, and the coalition of major law firms CAASE and @uplcchicago have assembled to bring nearly a dozen lawsuits on behalf of women sexually harmed while in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections.

On April 29th, we gathered for #ACAASEofEmpowerment: Prevention’s Impact, for the second year. We learned from CAASE’s prevention educators, we connected with new and old friends, and we worked towards transforming our community's intersectional response to sexual harm and exploitation together.

From Evidence to Impact: Understanding the Scope of Technology-Facilitated Abuse and How Data Can Inform Prevention. CAASE Legal Director Elizabeth Payne will be a panelist on this webinar happening Tuesday, May 19, at noon.
Presenters will share findings from multiple large-scale national and international data sources on the scope of technology-facilitated abuse. Panelists will also discuss how they use data to inform practice, improve programming, and support prevention and response efforts.

Throughout the fight to end money bond and reduce pretrial jailing in Illinois, opponents weaponized survivors of gender based violence and used misinformation to try to and stop the Pretrial Fairness Act. These attacks ignored the ways in which wealth-based jailing has failed to keep survivors safe and erased the central role that survivors and anti-gender based violence advocates played in drafting and passing the Pretrial Fairness Act. The law makes strides towards granting survivors more opportunities to be a part of the pretrial process.
Join survivor and policy advocates as we in unpack how this historic reform supports survivors and discuss the laws implementation .impacts victim services.
