Sawanobori is an ancient Japanese practice. The meditative side of this mountaineering activity involves ascending a tributary of a river — within its features — towards its source. This includes climbing waterfalls, traversing ravine walls, and swimming through gorges. As a rule, the climber moves in the direction opposite to the water’s flow, and this struggle against adversity is symbolic of the art. 🧗🏽⛰️
In our case, we have a lineup that moves up the mountain over the course of three days, across three venues. We follow the path of an imaginary river and face every obstacle the way water would — with grace, flow, and adaptability.
The lineup order is as follows:
13th: Pahadi Resort, Rakkar: Tanya b2b Dharze, I Digress (

14th: Bimil, McLeod: Dharze, Hitbyacid, Kokopelli (

15th: Monkey, Dharamkot: Fawn, Dharze, Miss Witch, I Digress (

The venues have been super accommodating and kind enough to introduce water-themed cocktails for the event. More details on venue specific line ups and cocktail menus in the coming days. 🩵🫰😊
The significance: we have a lot of water imbalance around us — locally and globally. In Tibetan culture, water represents the colour green, and its corresponding emotion is love. Through this event, we could nudge things slowly towards balancing the water element inside us, and through that it balances outside us. The qualities of water are flow, flexibility, and fertility. Without water, there is no new growth.
The creation of this event is a product of love, and the intention is to share that love with everyone. Naively hoping for change like always and diving head first into the ocean. See you on the dance floor, and in the ocean, hombres. 🌊🐋
