We are so excited to welcome @kaitlyn_hawk as a Guest Artist for our May Study Series showing! Read more about Kaitlyn below, and RSVP to The Study Series showing at the link in our bio! Kaitlyn Hawkins is a Brooklyn based freelance dance artist and choreographer who is asking questions to try and prove to herself that the statement, “I am valuable” is true. She uses text, homemade sets, and a dreamlike sense of logic to see how her understanding of herself affects her relationships with the people around her. Her work has been presented at Westfest (NYC), Greenlung (NYC), Candybox Festival (MN), Movers Make (MN), and she has self-produced shows in Minneapolis and Brooklyn. She has performed with TU Dance, Shapiro & Smith, Stefanie Batten Bland, Yusha-Marie Sorzano, Alanna Morris, Isaac Martin Lerner, Honeyworks, Sod House Theater, and Black Label Movement.

Everyone say hello👋 to our new Assistant Director: Kate Mullis @kate.mullis Kate received her BFA in Musical Theatre from Western Carolina University. Earlier this year she produced and assistant directed her play, “Recess,” in collaboration with Atlas Performing Arts Intersections Festival, in Washington DC (@recesstheplay ) She is excited to support new choreography and help The Study Series grow. Happy dance day! In December I did an improvised solo for @the_studyseries at @artsonsite Exploring what it means to be a dancer without being a professional performer is a lifelong journey :)

We’re happy to welcome Kaitlyn Posada @kaitlynposada as a Guest Artist for our April Study Series showing! Read more about Kaitlyn below, and RSVP to The Study Series showing at the link in our bio. Kaitlyn Posada was born in Nashville, raised in Houston, and is an NYU graduate currently exploring the career of a freelance dancer. As an artist, Kaitlyn is currently reframing how we view the individual within the community, and how this may affect how we experience waves of internal emotional phases. In her piece, Kaitlyn explores how we may experience phases of renewal and rebirth, and how each season passing by is not always reflected externally.

We’re incredibly excited to be joined by @sara_thoreson and @sonya_l_s_ as collaborative guest artists for our April showing! Read more about Sara and Sonya below, and RSVP at the link in our bio. Originally from Chicago, Sonya began her training in ballet at Ruth Page. She then received a degree in Dance and Anthropology from Fordham University/The Ailey School in New York City. While in New York, she danced in original works by artists including Annie Rigney, Ingrid Kapetyn, and Alexander Anderson and performed in Bad Binch TongTong’s New York Fashion Week show with Stefanie Nelson Dancegroup. She continued her practice at Nuova Oficina della Danza in Italy, under the direction of Tom Weinberger. There, she had the opportunity to collaborate with international artists including Ella Rothschild and Paxton Ricketts, and went on to work closely with Ella Rothschild on her latest creation for Festpielhuas Baden-Baden and Kammerballeten. At the core of Sonya’s practice is an open heart and a deep connection to her inner stillness.  Sara grew up in North Idaho, moved to San Antonio, Texas, then journeyed to New York for the Fordham University and Ailey School BFA program. She’s trained in ballet, contemporary, modern, partnering, and holds her BFA in Dance & Sociology. At Ailey, she performed works by Alexander Anderson, Maleek Washington, Rebecca Margolick, and Georgia Usborne. Since graduating, she has worked with companies like Tabula Rasa Dance Theater, Dishman & Co Choreography, Zehnder Dance, and as a freelancer; performing around the city and New England. Immersed in work-study opportunities with Gallim and B12, she worked with Raja Feather Kelly, Scott Jennings, Marion Sparber, Kayla Farrish, and more. She finds grounding in creative practice. She has been honored to create for Unbound Dance Collective, Creaturespace Commonspace with STORMWRKS, and show work at Green Lung.   Together, they honor their creative sources to inform shared process.
