'Her Black Woman’s voice rings true and deep and gentle, with an iron echo. It is merciless and vulnerable and far ranging.' —Audre Lorde Alongside her invaluable contributions to social justice, Pat Parker (1944-1989) wrote five collections of poetry during her lifetime and is widely recognised as one of the leading African-American, lesbian-feminist voices of the 20th Century. Selected Poems collects her most loved works into an accessible volume, introducing new readers to Parker's fire for justice, tenderness, and vision for the world. This is the first time Pat Parker's poetry has been published in the United Kingdom. Readers interested in Pat Parker’s life may also enjoy The Letters of Audre Lorde and Pat Parker 1974–1989, an archival work documenting their intimate friendship and important work as activist-poets. #authorscommunity #smallpress #booksubscription #the87press #booksinstagram #letscreate #patparker #audrelorde #coverreveal #letters #selectedpoems

📕 COVER REVEAL 📕 Unceded Land by Issam Zineh (@issam.zineh ), coming out June 11th 2026. Unceded Land traces the lines of intimacy, loss, and colonial legacies. Zineh unearths psychological depths and interrogates geographical territories, bridging the gap between the mind and the world, the personal and the political, the poem and the reader. Here is the poetry of unknotted affect, of landscapes as primordial as they are crushed by history, of perception rooted in diasporic experience. "Issam Zineh’s terrific full-length debut pries open the spaces between what is said and unsaid, revealing what the echo knows in poems that refuse silence. In breaking and remaking the sacred vessels of form, Unceded Land sings into the layers of family, history, and place to uncover the living voice of loss and survival." —Tyler Mills, author of Hawk Parable and Tongue Lyre "As one reads of displacement—through time, through locale, through the violences of history—you may feel you can neither look nor look away. The bodies pass through borders, seek safe haven, to find homes of their own." —Kazim Ali (@kazimalipoet ), author of The Voice of Sheila Chandra Issam Zineh is a Palestinian-American poet, editor, and public health worker. He is author of Unceded Land (Trio House Press, 2022; the87press, 2026), finalist for the Trio Award, Medal Provocateur, Housatonic Book Award, and Balcones Prize for Poetry, and the chapbook The Moment of Greatest Alienation (Ethel Press, 2021). His work appears in AGNI, The Yale Review, Gulf Coast, Prairie Schooner, Split This Rock, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. #londonpoetry #letscreate #the87press #indiepress #SupportIndiePublishers #literature #WritingCommunity #BookLaunch #preorder #smallpresspublishing #BookLover #SupportIndieBookstores #literaturelover

📖 Happy pub day to Selected Poems by Pat Parker, edited by SaraEllen Strongman 📖 This marks the first time Pat Parker’s poetry has been published in the United Kingdom! “Her Black woman’s voice rings true and deep and gentle, with an iron echo. It is merciless and vulnerable and far-ranging.” —Audre Lorde “Pat Parker’s Selected Poems embody heritage, rage, womanhood, and class. This rare collection, formed from her books, is a living archive of empathetic, confrontational poetry—a witness to and record of the Black civil rights movement in the US, the global fight against homophobia, and the evolving women’s liberation movement.” —Joelle Taylor, T.S. Eliot Prize–winning poet “Pat Parker’s poems are infused with a sensuality and curiosity that exemplify her friend and collaborator Audre Lorde’s definition of the erotic as the ‘guiding light toward an understanding.’ They provide a framework for readers to understand their inner life as intimately connected to the material world that produces them. Parker’s poems conduct a search for others, building meaningful solidarity across difference whilst prioritising an expression of the sweetness of being alive.” —Lola Olufemi Order now ⭐ Link in bio #londonpoetry #letscreate #the87press #indiepress #SupportIndiePublishers #literature #WritingCommunity #BookLaunch #preorder #smallpresspublishing #BookLover #SupportIndieBookstores #literaturelover #londonpoetry

Happy Birthday to Juan Gelman! 🎂 We are so honoured to have this legendary Argentine poet in our catalogue. Notes / Notas, translated by Arianna Afsari and Silvia Tandeciarz, will be published on 9th July 2026—bringing Gelman’s essential work to English-speaking readers in its entirety for the first time. Originally published in 1979, Notas / Notes was written in exile following Argentina’s 1976 military coup. In the face of state violence and profound personal loss—including the disappearance of his own son—Gelman forged a poetics of witness, memory, and resistance. Juan Gelman (1930–2014) authored more than twenty books of poetry and is widely regarded as one of the greatest contemporary Spanish-language poets, as well as Argentina’s poet laureate. In 2007, he was awarded the prestigious Miguel de Cervantes Prize, following in the footsteps of Jorge Luis Borges, Ernesto Sabato, and Adolfo Bioy Casares. Readers interested in Gelman’s work can look forward to this powerful bilingual edition of Notes / Notas, a testament to resilience, linguistic brilliance, and enduring hope. Available to pre-order now in the link in bio 📖 ‘One of the greatest poets the world has today.’ —José Saramago #juangelman #poetrytranslation #bilingualpoetry #latinamericanliterature #smallpress #bookstagram #the87press #poetrycommunity #comingsoon #notesnotas #translatedliterature

"These should be shards that land, and that you have to deal with, and that lead you to more than just what I have written." We mark the launch of the UK edition of Lena Khalaf Tuffaha’s Something About Living, published by the 87 Press, at the London Review Bookshop where she was in conversation with the remarkable So Mayer. Lena Khalaf Tuffaha is one of the most influential Palestinian poets working in English today. Her collections have won multiple prizes and her poems have been published across the spectrum of poetry magazines. So Mayer is a writer, editor, bookseller, organiser and film curator. Their most recent book is Bad Language, published by Peninsula Press in 2025, a memoir and manifesto on language and power. With thanks to the LRB Bookshop for hosting the event and providing the recording.
