Then, I ran over to the 11th Street Bar in the East Village where FOU (Friend of The Underbites) @_paulmcdaniel_ was spotted sporting an Underbites shirt during his super set with @wormburner_band . Benefit show alert! On June 3 at @maindragmusic in Brooklyn, we're playing a benefit show celebrating 10 Years of the Downtown Nasty Women Social Group (@downtownnastywomennyc ). They're grassroots community activists working to spark civic engagement, increase voter participation at all levels of government, elect Democrats up and down the ballot all over the country, and shift the balance of power in order to improve people's lives. In honor of this day marking the 50th anniversary of the release of the first @ramones album, I thought I'd repost this photo of me visiting @johnnyramone 's grave at the @hwdforever cemetery in LA. A classic pilgrimage. I believe Dee Dee is buried there too but we didn't get to visit his grave. Weirdly, the two graves next to Johnny are @chriscornellofficial from @soundgarden and Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer shot and killed by Alec Baldwin. I love that first Ramones album, though my favorite is #rockettorussia !! Also, don't forget, Underbites play @berlin.undernyc this Saturday, 4/25! It will be a rager with 4 great bands. #woodyguthrie is a one of a kind person in American history and American music. Lefty/commie, friend of the working man, hobo/traveler, musician, lyricist, poet, joker, patriot and all around good guy. I was inspired to visit an exhibit about Woody in an NYU gallery on Jay Street in Brooklyn after hearing the great @laurarcantrell talk about it on @wfmu on Saturday. Lots of great info, drawings, posters, lyrics, stories, writings and even a spot where you could pick up a guitar and plunk out a tune. I think it was all on loan from the @woodyguthriecenter in Tulsa (that's well known and well trod by my Oklahoma pal, @docfo ). One thing I learned, but should have known, is that Woody lived in NYC for 27 years!!!!!! Go see the show if you can! And don't forget The Underbites show this Saturday, 4/25 at @berlin.undernyc - some advance tix are still available!!!

Arturo Vega was the @ramones Art director practically since their inception. Today I visited a great exhibit of his work at the @_howlarts gallery on e 1st street in the #eastvillage. An amazing display of his work and it tells the story (amongst others) of how he came up with the classic Ramones logo that sold a zillion t-shirts. If you're in the east village and have even a passing interest in The Ramones, you've gotta go! It's on through 5/24. I didn't even realize, until I saw a post from @perryperryperryperry that today is the anniversary of @joeyramoneofficial 's passing. RIP. As a bonus, I threw in a few extra pix I took around the 'hood #gabbagabbahey #heyholetsgo @badbrainsofficial

A lot of great #punkrock has come through New York lately. Here's a photo dump from the last week... it started with @thequeersofficial and @screechingweez . Last night, @notimepgh and @bostonbombsquad (playing @dropkickmurphys first album) opened for the mighty @cocksparrer - a great show! But probably the best of the lot was original drummer/co-founder @billvockeroth who brought his band of stand-in Angry Samoans @angry_samoan to Brooklyn and played all of the classic hits at @goldsoundsbar . And I'm throwing in a pic from the great @keithharing_ exhibit in the #eastvillage in for good measure! Go see it! Finally, a reminder that The Underbites play @berlin.undernyc on 4/25.
