On May 1st, Thai CDC joined thousands as we filled the streets of LA with chants, signs, and resistance. From MacArthur Park to Grand Park, workers, immigrants, families, students, faith leaders, and allies marched together and showed the world what people power looks like. ✊🏽 Thank you to @chirla_org for organizing this amazing display of power! #MayDay2026 #PrimeroDeMayo #InternationalWorkersDay Check out the photos from the rally: /scl/fo/4ow48rafw09jcthzapgzt/AJEv5oGCLLqno9Ey7KGYf_4?rlkey=a7itwvzvo5ccoqzh82fx86wo5&st=0cb0nnqv&dl=0

On April 18th, Thai CDC joined a coalition of 40 leading Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) organizations across Los Angeles County to convene a historic California gubernatorial candidate forum in Los Angeles’ Koreatown. We brought together community members, leaders, and candidates for a critical conversation on the future of the state and how they will support AANHPI priorities as Governor. A recording is available by visiting: bit.ly/aanhpi-gubernatorial-forum-vid Translated captions are available in Chinese, Korean, Thai, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. Imagine trying to secure housing when the documents are incomprehensible. For many LEP families, this is a daily reality. Affordable housing should not be inaccessible due to language barriers. When families cannot fully understand applications, leases, or their rights, they are put at risk. Language access is housing justice. #LanguageAccess #HousingJustice #ThaiCDC #LEP #AffordableHousing

Special thanks to our UCLA intern, Gabriel, for hand-drawing the art!!nd 90% of children from Asian immigrant backgrounds in the U.S. serve as language brokers for their parents. While there are many resources for Spanish speakers, there are not as many for Asian languages, especially Thai. When children act as family interpreters, they often sacrifice school time for adult responsibilities. This 'language brokering' can hurt their grades and take a serious toll on their mental health Without proper language access services, children become their families' only link to essential information. Special thanks to our UCLA intern Gabriel for hand-drawing the art! #LanguageAccess #ThaiCDC

What a day at the 17th Annual Thai New Year Festival! Our Community Resource & Health Fair section of the festival brought care, culture, and community together in the heart of Thai Town. By the numbers: • 43,400 face masks distributed • 4,400 COVID-19 test kits distributed • 1,002 disinfectant wipes given out • 100+ community members provided health screenings • 25 UCLA health student volunteers in action Plus, hundreds of tote bags, T-shirts, drinks, toys, and more resources directly into the hands of our community 💛 Even with a late start from our lab partner, we provided Hep A vaccinations and critical health education—proving that every moment counted. From record-breaking Pad Thai to cultural celebrations, this wasn’t just a festival—it was community care in action. And elected officials honored us with their presence too! They included State Senator Durazo (@senatormed ), Assemblymember Caloza (@asmcaloza ), Mayor Bass (@mayorofla ), Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez (@hugoforcd13 ), LAPD Chief McDonnell (@lapdpolicechief ), and LA County Sheriff Luna (@lunaforsheriff ). Thank you to every volunteer, partner, and community member who showed up. It truly took a village. 💛 Reshare this post to share LA Events and let us know if you see yourself in any photos! Upward and Onward! #ThaiCDC #ThaiTown #Songkran #Community #LosAngeles #HealthFair

✨ What a beautiful day in Thai Town! ✨ Honored to celebrate the 17th Annual Songkran Festival & Parade—an incredible tradition filled with culture, community, and joy. Songkran, the traditional New Year in Thailand, symbolizes renewal and fresh beginnings, with water used to wash away the past and welcome good fortune for the year ahead. A heartfelt thank you to the organizers, vendors, and small businesses who made this celebration so special. Grateful to the Thai Consulate and a special appreciation to the @thaicdc for their leadership in bringing this event to life. Wishing everyone a year filled with happiness, prosperity, and new beginnings. 🙏🏽✨
