“And I promised that if I won this tonight I would announce the name of my new record… Its called Born This Way.” The moment brings tears to my eyes and a shiver down my spine that has stayed with me for 15 years now just the same as it did when I was SAT watching the 2010 VMAs. @ladygaga has been a point of not only inspiration for me consistently but with this album it went into turbo drive. Majority of my preteen-teen life I felt like a burden for merely existing. She made me feel seen and realize that yes, I was different and thats okay and celebrated. It was truly kismet in a time when I couldnt feel more alienated and ostracized by everyone around me. 16 year old me, who did a VERRRRRY budget recreation for highschool costume day, could have never imagined where this moment would have brought me today.
