After stitching out my ‘notepaper’ in blue and red threads, I switch to black and just write a letter. No pre-planning about what I’m going to write. I just let it all come out. It’s quite cathartic. I’m also realising that I’m a terrible speller 😂 Once this piece is dissolved it will be almost impossible to read the text - which I love. Embroidery on the cover of Pride and Prejudice by @lindenacresdesign 🩵 Here are her own words about the project: ”Why have I been researching Regency era needlework patterns and color trends? Well, I am ready to take on the Pride and Prejudice book that I picked up from an estate sale a few months ago. I really wanted to do the cover of this beloved novel justice, and I feel like using the patterns and colors from that era would accomplish that. I was expecting the color palette to be more muted, but I learned that the colors were more saturated back then than we realize (at least when the garments were new.) Very few Regency dyes were colorfast. Textile manufacturers relied mainly on plant and mineral dyes, so garments faded, especially those laundered most often. Sometimes I love AI art! Like here, in these brilliant photos by @bonnycarrera , that really expand the brain. What would an outfit look like if it was made of… popcorn cotton? 🍿 Well, like this! When you have seen things in a photo, you can also create it in the real world, that is the magic. For artists, I think it’s good to sometimes be able to show a big installation made with AI first - to get the financial cover to do it for real. But if course I am aware of the negative effects of AI in the art field too, and they are MANY.
