Once home to the former Cabrini Green housing project, Parkside of Old Town helped reshape Chicago’s Near North Side through a more connected, mixed-income community focused on long-term neighborhood growth and opportunity.
In collaboration with @lbba_architects , #TeamTERRA provided site and civil engineering services for Phase 3 of the redevelopment, supporting a five-city block development that included residential buildings, townhomes, commercial space, pedestrian walkways, landscaping and parking improvements. The project also incorporated permeable paver parking lots to support sustainable stormwater management throughout the site.
As part of the Chicago Housing Authority’s Plan for Transformation, the redevelopment reflected a broader vision for community focused design that encourages connectivity, sustainability and new opportunities for residents across Chicago.
TERRA staff attended the @HarperCollege Business and Social Sciences Building Beam Signing Ceremony on Tuesday, April 28, celebrating a major milestone as construction continues to take shape on campus! 🏗️
#TeamTERRA is proud to provide civil engineering, landscape architecture and surveying services for the multi-phased development, helping shape new spaces that support learning, connection and long-term campus growth. Once complete, the new 92,380-square-foot facility will support a wide range of academic programs with updated classrooms, laboratories, a multi-level performance theater, an early learning center and expanded outdoor spaces.
The longstanding construction tradition brought together college leadership, faculty, staff, students and community members to sign a structural beam before it is raised into place, symbolizing the collaboration behind the project.

Staff joined South Loop Neighbors and Rotary Club of Chicago Citywide Service for a neighborhood cleanup across the South Loop, helping refresh key corridors along Roosevelt Road and beyond. It was a meaningful way to make a visible impact right where we live and work.

In celebration of World Landscape Architecture Month, #TeamTERRA brought a little more green into the office this week. 🪴
Our Landscape Architecture team set up a hands-on plant propagation workstation, giving staff the opportunity to refresh their workspace plants, learn proper repotting techniques and explore simple ways to support healthier plant growth. With soil, pots and guidance available, it was an easy way for everyone to get involved.
The workshop highlighted how small, intentional actions can contribute to more sustainable environments, both in our work and in our everyday spaces.
On Tuesday, April 7, #TeamTERRA joined community leaders and partners to mark the groundbreaking of the @chicagosouthsidebirthcenter .
Located in South Shore, this project will transform a former church into a dedicated space for midwife-led care and expanded reproductive health services. The new center is designed to increase access to essential care for families across the South Side, with a focus on creating a safe, supportive and community-focused environment.

We are excited to share that the Evanston Animal Shelter project received the APWA Public Works Project of the Year Award in the Structures category for projects between $5 million and $25 million!
In collaboration with @holabirdroot , TERRA provided civil engineering services, transforming the deteriorating 1970s facility into a modern and sustainable public asset. Evanston Animal Shelter features a medical suite, isolation areas, outdoor dog runs and more. It’s Evanston’s first zero on-site carbon emissions building, designed for LEED certification.

Last week, #TeamTERRA joined industry leaders in Champaign, Illinois at the 2026 Illinois Association for Floodplain and Stormwater Management (IAFSM) Annual Conference.
Dustin Erickson, P.E., CFM and Keven Graham, FASLA presented on TERRA’s Dineen Park project, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The 62-acre, multi-phase park redevelopment is a public partnership between the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County Parks, and the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD). The project reimagines the site through green infrastructure and stormwater management enhancements.
Key improvements included modifying an existing 30-Ft. long concrete dam, hydraulically dredging a 2-Acre lagoon for recreational fishing, and stabilizing streambanks. The design also created 34-Acre-Ft. of stormwater detention volume to help mitigate neighborhood flooding up to the 100-Yr. storm event, while enhancing recreational space. The presentation concluded with a summary of system performance during a 1,000-Yr. storm event over a 3-Day period from August 8 through August 10, 2025. During this event, 9.14-Inches of rain fell within 24-Hrs and 17.93-Inches over the full 3-Day period, impacting both the park and the surrounding neighborhood of 2,047 homes.
TERRA provided topographic and bathymetric surveying, civil engineering, landscape architecture, structural engineering, water resources engineering, master planning, and construction inspection services as the prime consultant. The team worked closely with Milwaukee County Parks and the City of Milwaukee to deliver stormwater improvements that support both flood mitigation and community recreation.

Last Tuesday, #TeamTERRA was on site at the historic Hotel Florence following Governor JB Pritzker’s announcement of a transformative public private partnership to restore and redevelop the property within Pullman State Historic Site on Chicago’s South Side.
Working alongside @farrassociates and project partners, we are collaborating to advance a shared vision for revitalizing this significant historic site. The project includes a 50-room boutique hotel, enhanced grounds, roadway and parking improvements, pedestrian crossings and restored public access to the hotel. TERRA is providing civil and electrical engineering services in support of continued investment in the Pullman community. We are excited to see the site restored!
