As many of you know the new building has been under construction for some time now. Here's an old video from 2024 where my friend Peter and I are installing the large framing unit we built on the ground for the 9 foot half round window with a boom lift. This will be where the sun shines into the tracking room every day. The vision is to create an ideal space for musical experiences to be had. A state of the art recording studio in the woods with a lake view, a private performance space, an ideal spot to shoot music videos with a live audience. There will be a stage inside and a large glass overhead door that gives the feeling you're still a part of nature. A professionally engineered control room designed and tuned for high end mixing and mastering. Creating a community around musical experiences in a carefully curated manner. There is nothing like it in the area. More building videos and photos to come. Current state of the building is that the control room is almost finished and heated. I’ve got a new song coming out tomorrow. It’s called “Close to Home”. It’s the second single off of my forthcoming full length album “Wanderlust” the first being “Tired Old Dog”. This one is a heavy one about hatred infiltrating our communities. I hope you’ll check it out and give it a listen. I recorded it two years ago at @templecabinstudios it features @aaronlippmusic on multiple instruments & Elton Hough on drums. Mixed & mastered by @jroseaudio so excited to finally start sharing some of these recordings!

Control Room Build Evolution history. Yes it takes three times the amount of materials, money and time to do it right. Yes it is worth it. To have true isolation and an acoustically tuned room where the math was actually done. No cheap foam on the walls. No drop ceilings. Truly effective room construction, ceiling clouds, wall membrane absorbers all fabric wrapped and calculated. All commercial electric conduit with only two wall penetrations - power in and mic cables in. Radiant heat in the floor with mini split backup and cooling. HRV continuous fresh air supply and return ducts. Every outlet has special hospital grade isolated grounds to a separate panel to minimize noise and ground loops. Two wall and ceiling assemblies, three layers of 5/8 material on each side with an air space. All caulked with acoustic sealant and filled with rockwool. A concrete slab separated from the live room. A setup suitable for actual high end mixing and mastering. And yet it all only matters if the music is good. But the tools are here and continue to be expanded upon.

Been working hard on the new Temple Cabin Studios lately ! The stairs that lead up to the artists lounge and double tiered timber frame Balcony looking down into the live room and the stage area. Temporary stair treads until the 8/4 maple goes on (from a big old tree felled here on the property). Two storage closest under the stairs for instrument cases and microphone stands. Getting really close to having the control room finished and moving the studio and Neve Console inside to finish recapping and wiring up the patch bay. It will be heated by a mini split for now before I pipe up the radiant heated floor and constant fresh air from an HRV with silent baffled custom built duct work. Will be moving the current setup into the new space around Thanksgiving. Building and planning this almost entirely myself has been challenging but rewarding. I can make it exactly how I want and build tight with precision acoustics. We will be missing the old space with its unique sound and cozy atmosphere but its time to level up into a state of the art control room with a room built perfectly for mixing and mastering.
