🦉 “Barn owl” by Alexander is available, painted with hand-picked and processed raw minerals that we collected in the foothills of the Andes mountains. We unearth colorful pigments on expeditions around our home in Popayán Colombia, where Alexander’s uncles have been making natural paint since the 1970’s. Each stone and handful of clay holds the memory of a specific place, and for us as painters there is something profoundly intimate about accompanying the pigment all the way from its cliff side or river bed to its new home on canvas in the wild shapes of our imagination. Foraged pigment painting is a sacred and deeply fulfilling process that reminds us where we come from, and affirms a mutual relationship with our planet that can never be forgotten or erased. We love sharing our work and this technique with all of you. Thank you for being here and supporting🤎 head to our website (link in bio) to shop a rich spectrum of work. Photos by @1ofakindphotography

“Warlander” by @alexanderfals 🐎 40x25 inches When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free. —Wendell Berry This poem came to mind when Alexander was seeking to capture the essence of this piece. Amidst paintings of heavy political and spiritual themes, painting this scene was a rest for his mind and soul. Horses will always be a nostalgic symbol of his grandma Mary Sherwood and mother Lauren Sherwood. #horsepainting #mineralpigmentpainting #horseart #warlander #foragedpigmentart

Cuba libre Foraged pigment on canvas 48” x 30” This piece means so much to me and has been a long time coming. Please take the time to read and comment, together we can make the world a better place. This piece depicts three Cuban trogons playing music while floating in a bottle at sea. The resilience and soul of the Cuban people is a testament to the strength of all humankind. The word banana republic has been used to subvert the truth and diminish the humanity of Cuba along with central and South American countries since its conception in 1904 by the American writer O. Henry (William Sydney Porter). It first appeared in his collection of short stories, Cabbages and Kings. ( a reference to Luis Carrol’s through the looking glass) Follow the story of the banana and we understand much of the dark magic in empire. How the true banana republic was the very empire itself, and through deceptive language they managed to convince the world it was the ladder. They call it “The imposition of Will” using a practice they call “magnetic chain”. They link us together and impose their will on the masses. Literally oldest trick in the book. Remember bananas are a part of a “complete breakfast” hint hint When Freemasons designed the Natinal flag of Cuba they used the symbol of a key to mark cubas strategic location as a bridge between continents. He who holds the key runs the gate. The people of Cuba are still at the whim of this occult colonial conflict. This is why education matters, if we do not use it as a tool for the liberation of humanity it will be used as a tool for its dominion. The lies we were taught in public school just keep adding up. I love you all, thank you for supporting Foraged pigment art

It’s easy to get stuck searching for your style or voice in the arts, as if it’s outside of you. There’s a lot of pressure to be different, unique, exceptional. But you already are different, and your unique style exists already in everything you say and choose. The lifelong exercise of artists (and all people) is to continually learn how to let your voice out, in all of its forms as you keep changing—to keep excavating it from the muck of judgment, care for it, allow it, and share it in all of its iterations. The people who need it will find you. More importantly, you will find you. Photos by @1ofakindphotography

This is my song Oh gods of all the nations A song of peace for lands so far away This is my home, a country where my heart is Here grew my hopes and dreams for all mankind But other hearts in other lands are beating With hopes and dreams as true and high as mine My country’s skies are bluer than the ocean And sunlight shines on clover leaf and pine But other lands have sunlight too and clover And skies are everywhere as blue as mine Oh hear my prayer, o gods of all the nations A song of peace for their lands and for mine Peter Paul and Mary

Empire Brain 48” x 30” Foraged Pigments of Colombia If empire is installed through repetition of phrases, so is liberation. The masses do not move through complexity, We move through repetition and feeling. inherited phrases become subconscious operating systems. phrases are not neutral. They are neurological architecture. If language builds the cage, language builds the bridge… We exist at the edge of a bifurcation our species barely perceives. One path: language continues as a tool of compression—reducing reality into categories, hierarchies, control.” “The other: language becomes relational—a living system that expands reality through mutual recognition.” Every phrase we expose weakens one reality Every phrase we refine strengthens another people cannot unite around a lie. But we can unite around a revealed wound. Empire Brain, the wound map The ascension we seek isn’t mystical, It’s lexical. What we call ascension is not upward movement It is the refinement of participation We do not leave reality.” We learn to engage it… without violence When we changed our words, we changed our world. To name is to sculpt perception Love does not withdraw, it enters @chapelofsacredmirrors thank you to @allysongreycosm for encouraging me to incorporate words into my paintings ❤️ miss you guys

Alexander has started a beautiful series of birds! This white barn owl perched on a gnarled branch is striking against an orange clay background. Each color comes from creamy, bright volcanic clays that we dug up near our home. 🤍 #barnowlpainting #mineralpigment #claypaint #paintwithclay #foragedpigmentart
