Some moments are really hard to captureā¦.and thenā¦share?
Iāll try describe it.
A young boy is filming a film of himself on his mumās Iphone. He is standing in the room where he stood the day before pulling a string attached to the side lever of a 1959 bolex camera. His particular part of the film is made up of roughly 180 single frame exposures he took. As he films himself people are still playing with puppets around his shadow but he is totally engrossed and unaware of the T-rex trying to eat his phone.
This little snippet of video is from an installation I did in January as part of my Artist residency with Terrestrial in Frome.
The film is hand drawn on 16mm clear film and projected in a dark room hung with rolls of textured paper on all sides. It was drawn in response to the music written by Verity Standen for the project āVoices of Fromeā.
You can listen to more of this incredible music here .uk/voices-of-frome
Special thanks to James Holcombe of @erehwon_film for all the support and permission to experiment in these wildly fun analogue mediums.

Here is a weird little animation I made as a mini installation this weekend as part of InsideOut festival - it was projected on to tracing paper in a beautiful old wonky window at night (thank you Henry). Loved watching people interact with it, especially the kiddos. ā¤ļø/home/inside-out.
