Screen Argyll’s online 6-week filmmaking course will help you build your own language of cinema using the technology you already have.
We’ll explore the basics of filmmaking:
• How does a shot work?
• What does sound do?
• How do you connect with an audience?
• How do you edit a film together?
Over 6 weeks, you’ll learn how to create films that communicate your voice and ideas clearly.
Led by film and theatre maker Alasdair Satchel based on the Isle of Mull and creator of @what_we_do_in_the_winter podcast, which gives people an insight into the small communities and lives of locals around the Isle of Mull and Iona

Bart Schrijver’s acclaimed drama follows former best friends and roommates Chris (Bart Harder) and Lluis (Carles Pulido), who meet up after a decade to hike Scotland’s West Highland Way and Cape Wrath Trail. Having taken the same 350-mile walk in their youth, the pair hope to rekindle their once-strong friendship by spending 30 days together in the majestic, raw beauty of the Scottish Highlands.
But while Chris remains preoccupied with work and life back at home, Lluis is determined to finish the trail to prove he can still do it. Amidst the sweeping landscapes, harsh weather and chance encounters with other hikers, the solitude and silence of the trek force the pair to confront truths about themselves and their friendship – and find out what it truly means to stand still and listen.

Our community countdown screening number 2 is with Artmix at Dunoon Burgh Hall. Artmix is a multi-art film project for young people exploring filmmaking and animation skills, you may have seen some of the wonderful interviews they conducted for the festival. If you have young ones who are not yet members of Artmix why not book to come along and see what a great bunch they are.
Pirate Captain, a boundlessly enthusiastic, if less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas, attempts to win the coveted Pirate of the Year Award. With a rag-tag crew at his side and blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy and Cutlass Liz.
