The past few weeks have been quite the adventure, I must say 🙏🏽. I had the rare pleasure of co-hosting an interview panel with the former governor of Ekiti State - Governor John Kayode Fayemi, CON on his experience while he was in various aspects of government (national and sub national) and offering perspectives to the next generation about what they can expect, as they consider career opportunities in public sector.
Equally as exciting was the opportunity to co-interview His Excellency, Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN, GCON. He shared some intimate experiences about his time in government - some highs and some lows and more importantly, pitfalls to anticipate and navigate through in public service.
I will be eternally grateful to The Platform for this opportunity and I know there will be future public service leaders of high integrity and capacity from this consortium 🌻
Finally, I would like to express my profound appreciation to Pastor Poju Oyemade for preparing this platform, being an inspirational teacher and a visionary leader.
It has been said that “if you want to go fast, you can go alone; but if you want to go far, you should go together”. And an African proverb goes: “it takes a village to raise a child”. I never found these sayings to be more true than exactly 7 days ago when I was able to see a vision that I nursed for the last year. 😮💨
The inaugural “Bridging The Gap” was a testament to the small village of family, friends, and collaborators that have encapsulated me and I can’t express enough my appreciation to all involved 💗💗💗. Some of these beautiful faces left their mark in the sands of time and even I found myself taking notes from the amazing conversations. 🗒️
We had went through how to navigate international e-commerce, how to protect and preserve our intellectual property and assets, starting and structuring a sustainable fashion enterprise and even branding and positioning in this modern social media era. 🤜🏽🤜🏽 Some of these themes are still echoing in my head and I really can’t wait to implement some of these ideas in my own entrepreneurial pursuits.

At the crack of dawn last Thursday, over 100 young minds from almost 20 of Lagos’ top secondary schools readied themselves to be inspired by fashion industry veterans and stakeholders at our inaugural “Bridging The Gap” conference and deliver, the event surely did!!! 💫
Following the curated presentation by @tejumolamd on a brief history of Africa and Fashion, the shaping of the future for young minds, we had the iconic @emmykasbit duo sharing how they got their ironic start, to the impeccably fabulous @lisafolawiyo regaling us on the power of collaboration to @ibquake inspiring us to dream of a better tomorrow for Africa with her spoken word, there was a palpable 🔥energy in the air by our most energetic MC @drfoy !
By the time the afternoon rolled around, we’d dare say most of the students were not ready to leave. The Exhibition Gallery prepared by the effervescent @thefashionedmuseum team left mouths buzzing and tails wagging. There was so much to learn, so many stories to tell and so many minds to shape. But all things must eventually come to an end, and there was no one better than our amiable governor Jidesanwoolu , able represented by his Special Adviser, Culture and Tourism, Honorable Idris Aregbe to end the program with a charge that Lagos was indeed open for business and specially interested in cultural interventions like ours.
That why we are here! And we can’t wait to take you on this journey with us. Love and light! 💗💕💗

Day 1 of Bridging The Gap welcomed students into a learning experience centered on African fashion, culture, creativity, and industry awareness. ✨🌍
Through the exhibition, the students were introduced to African fashion beyond clothing, exploring it as history, identity, craftsmanship, storytelling, enterprise, and a reflection of the communities that shape it. 👗🧵📚
The session also featured conversations with Ibukun Ajagbe - @ibquake and Ifeyinwa Azubike @the_ladymaker beautifully anchored by @drfoy , who guided the conversations with warmth, clarity, and intention. Their insights encouraged the students to think deeply about creativity, purpose, expression, and the possibilities within the fashion and creative industries. 🎤💡
Special appreciation to Ecobank Pan African Centre (EPAC), 270B1 Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island, Lagos, for supporting this experience and providing the space that brought these conversations, exhibitions, and moments together.
It was a meaningful reminder of why exposure matters. When young people are introduced to the depth of African fashion early, they are better able to understand its value, preserve its stories, and imagine their own place within its future. 🌍✨

In 2024, we began documenting African fashion across 54 countries.
What started as research into textiles, dress, identity, and craft grew into a year-long plus body of work, tracing the stories carried in what people wear across the continent.
Now, that work becomes an exhibition.
IAF 54: Inside Africa Fashion 54 brings the archive into a physical space, where textiles, fashion histories, and cultural references can be experienced beyond the page.
It also carries forward the essence of Bridging The Gap, creating room for industry conversations, clarity, and connection. Alongside the exhibition, there will be sessions, discussions, and networking designed to help people better understand the fashion industry, build relationships, and find direction within it.
May 11th to May 13th, 2026
1PM to 6PM daily
Ecobank Pan African Centre (EPAC), 270 B1, Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island, Lagos
Attendance is free, but registration is compulsory.

New week, same reminder ✨
Culture does not preserve itself.
People do.
Through exhibitions, stories leave private memory and take their place in public conversation 🏛️
They give clothing, objects, images, and history a place to be seen, questioned, remembered, and carried forward.
That is why exhibitions matter.
They do not just show culture.
They help move it 🌍
This week, we are thinking about archives, memory, African fashion, and the many ways our stories deserve to be seen properly 🧵
Something is coming…

I’m realising more and more that travel, for me, is less about where I go and more about what I learn.
Morocco felt layered.
From conversations around leadership and influence, to experiencing fashion as preserved history, to seeing culture expressed through food.
It all connects.
And it keeps bringing me back to one question—
how do we tell our stories in a way the world truly understands?
Still processing this one.

Some experiences need a moment to land.
Fashion, for me, has never just been about what we wear.
It’s shaped by the places, the culture, the context around it.
And I’m always observing.

Storytelling is not just about expression — it is about preservation, power, and perspective.
This week in Rabat, I’m part of the KESSA Program by UM6P Story School and the French-African Foundation, exploring the role of narrative in shaping how we see ourselves and how the world sees us.
Selected alongside a cohort of African storytellers, I’m honoured to be representing Nigeria in this space of learning and exchange.
My work through The Fashioned Museum sits at this intersection — where fashion becomes archive, identity becomes language, and culture is engaged with intention.
Grateful to be in rooms where these conversations are being taken seriously.

Fashion is often seen as glamorous ✨👗 but the reality is far more demanding. In this episode of Bridging The Gap, Odiomimonet shares an honest perspective on what it truly takes to build in the fashion industry. Beyond the beauty and finished pieces, there is discipline, hard work, and a constant commitment to a vision, even when progress feels slow ⏳.
This conversation explores the importance of building the right team 🤝, staying grounded in your values, and understanding fashion as more than clothing, but as culture, storytelling, and service 🌍. We also touch on sustainability as an inherited practice ♻️, the identity of the Odio woman, and why documenting our stories is essential for legacy 📖.
If you are building anything, especially within creative industries, this episode is a reminder that meaningful work takes time, structure, and resilience 💡.
