DOM CRUZ hit my desk recently with his 2024 project a happy hOHM., that he created with Teedoteinsof on production. Like the title suggests, a happy hOHM. is a project that brings the music home for this New York native MC. Getting personal and allowing an insight into his life more than many artists do! So let me dig in!

DOM CRUZ makes this a family affair, appropriate for a happy hOHM.. From phone messages left by his girl to having the kids speaking on tracks, the vibe here is great. Bringing a mix of poetic flows and discerning lyrics that bring a spark of life to every track. DOM CRUZ and Teedoteinsof make a great pairing. Teedoteinsof brings production that varies in style, feel and instrumentation. All while carrying the homey, soulful vibe that DOM CRUZ & a happy hOHM. needed for this project. The windy, wispy nature sounds on peace peace., to the backyard Jazz of hOME., and the waterfall windings of Plant Seeds. The different and unique sounds blended into the Hip-Hop core brings extra soul to the songs. And that was just speaking on the first few songs. All of which DOM CRUZ tackles well with his style.

Most of the time DOM CRUZs style works for me but every once in a while I’m less hooked in than others. That’s not based on his lyrical content which I love, more so his flow and rap style. It’s great but does have some minor peaks and valleys for me. Getting into some of my favorite tracks outside of some that I’ve already mentioned, Flowers. has a slow beat and kept me reeled in with the sample used throughout, while DOM CRUZ spits with one of his more unorthodox flows but it works. Meanwhile 1000 G’z has DOM using a more fluid flow over a great noir-like beat. And the feature Pilla went off. Then Tribal Chiefs has a variety of MCs at DOM CRUZs side and they all tackle the beat with ease.

This is a great album, that brings a great vibe. Maybe not my personal daily vibe, but the range on this album really shows DOM CRUZ & Teedoteinsof’s versatility for their respective crafts. This is available on Bandcamp so go run it up, then buy it and support if you enjoy it!
