Ted’s hospitality journey started on Waikiki Beach, in his high school hometown of Honolulu. After attending Boston University’s School of Hospitality Administration, Ted worked in management at several award-winning restaurants in the Boston area. Now in his current role, Ted strives to emphasize the importance of team service and creating value and small moments that keep guests coming back.
During our interview, Ted shares the most impactful piece of advice he received about leadership, one thing he would want people outside the industry to know about hospitality leadership, plus tips for those just starting out as leaders in restaurants.

After growing up in Manhattan and Honolulu, Ted began his hospitality career working in various restaurants on Waikiki Beach. Ted’s journey then led him to Boston University’s School of Hospitality Administration. While there, he joined Chef Barbara Lynch at No. 9 Park as Assistant General Manager. In 2016, Ted opened @srvboston as General Manager and Wine Director. After earning his MBA from BU in 2019, he became Operations Manager at Cushman Concepts in 2020. By summer 2021, Ted returned to The Coda Group as a partner and Director of Operations, overseeing @saltypigboston , SRV, and new ventures @gufocambridge and @baleiaboston . Ted is passionate about the importance of team service, offering value to guests, and creating small moments that keep guests coming back. It’s been a year. We opened @gufocambridge and @baleiaboston basically back to back and effectively doubled the size of our group in 8 months. Meanwhile @srvboston and @saltypigboston continued to be great and even got better while attention was pulled elsewhere. Mostly I just want to express how thankful I am for the team we have put together. Restaurants at their core are a widely diverse collection of people with a common goal and thankfully our people are talented, hard working and decent.
A special shout out to @best.friend.andrew who has made this year possible - leading three different kitchen teams, writing two completely different menus, hiring, training, organizing and maybe even having fun doing it. Also thank you @brittanylvieira for not only supporting but contributing to both openings.
There are so many ppl not pictured who have made it all happen as well. Mostly I’m realizing I don’t take enough photos and the ones I have aren’t great… cheers to a busy summer!
Major congrats to everyone’s favorite plastic surgeon @brittanylvieira on her graduation from @harvard_plastic_surgery residency program this past week. Proud and excited for all that is to come.
It makes me so happy to see this crew continue to grow. I am forever grateful to these guys for welcoming and accepting me back in the day. That gratitude continues every time I return to visit as it is these bonds which still make Hawaii feel like home. Love to all.
Happy birthday @smsato1 ! Here are some greats, starting with your birthday last year celebrating with J and C in NY. The second to last photo is the biggest testament to how much you mean to the people you come across. So much so that they fight over who gets to fix your light. Love you Mom.
Two weeks ago I broke my ankle playing basketball. Thankfully I will avoid surgery and instead be in this handsome new blue cast.
I cannot express how thankful I am for @brittanylvieira and all she has done and will do throughout this process.
