Here we are! Front brakes and suspension almost all together. Still a few pieces to button up, brake lines to connect, and some smaller details to sort, but… it’s all here.
Brand new steering column from Techno Toy Tuning, a larger oversized sway bar, T3 coilovers with Swift springs, and Wilwood calipers… so good.
You might notice the extended length wheel studs in the hubs. That was a bit of a journey getting the originals pressed out and the new ones installed since I don’t have a press at home, but it’s all part of the look and vision for this build. Seeing it come together with the wheels mounted is just… the best.

The Alibaba AE86 just got some BigTime brake upgrades from us and @wilwooddiscbrakes
A beautiful purple Baby Daddy Brake Kit up front with our Quad Caliper setup in the rear!

It’s all coming together! I decided to do a quick soft mount of the wheels and tires to check clearance, especially with how wide these are at 15x10.5 all around. I’m running Toyo Tires Proxes R888s, which I’ve always loved.
These wheels originally had a bronze finish, but I had them media blasted and powder coated in satin black and they hit just right. The dish and overall spec are exactly what I was after for this S30 build.
Tire specs are 235/50/15, which give a really nice shape and should flow well with the contour of the overfenders once I get to that stage. What a sight.
Now… time to assemble and mount the Wilwood brake calipers.
Previously in April it was the first Cars and Coffee event at Fitted Garage! Lots of great car showed up and even more amazing people came through! Good to see all the boyz meet up for the morning. Datsuns, Toyotas, Lexus, Mazdas, Fords and so much more showed up. Open to all.
.
Beyond cars, there was also about 5 boxes of donuts we pretty much devoured. Additionally, food and drink vendors. Cars parked in the lot, filled up the streets, inside the shop + show room and even on lifts. Cars on rotisseries to cars stripped down to metal, with the common denominator of running T3 parts of course duhhhhhh
.
Enjoy the photos and big ups to everyone showing up yall. Another cars and coffee event is coming up around the corner. This time, there's an additional element to it all. I won't say 👀

From almost hitting geese to a lap record! Here’s my 1:22.7 pole lap from this past weekend at the Portland SCCA Super Tour. It’s now up on the @lapmeta website also!
A less than ideal start to the lap out of 12, sub-optimal shifting and a poor entry to Turn 1 but it ended up being decent enough for an EP class lap record! The @goodyearracing tires were phenomenal even with 5 cycles on them from last year. @cobaltracingbrakes , @technotoytuning , @sunocoracefuels , @motioncontrolsuspension , all working together to make Palmer this fast! @renownusa steering wheel also gives me just enough grip to turn this crappy old steering box car around @portlandinternationalraceway

Heading to the track with the boot full of gear? We’ve got a couple upgrades to help you out!
Our Z Racing Harness Bar is the primo way to install your bucket seats and harnesses! It mounts in the factory seat belt holes and braces the B-pillars!!
Keep your helmet or camera bag in check with our Rear Strut Tower Brace and Tri-Bar!! Increase chassis rigidity, keep your gear from sliding forward and look awesome while doing it!!

What an absolutely awesome sight! If you’ve been following this build, you’ll see just how much of a transformation it’s becoming. Seeing these fresh parts from @technotoytuning mounted up to this 51-year-old chassis after all the planning, prep, and work… it’s incredibly gratifying and completely worth it.
It’s moments like this where I like to pause and give thanks to everyone who has been a part of this build along the way.
Once everything came together, mounting it to the chassis went pretty quickly. Just a handful of bolts and getting them torqued to spec is fairly straightforward. With the driver side complete, it’s time to move over to the passenger side and mirror the process.
Up next is assembling the Wilwood front brakes and hubs that came with the @technotoytuning S30 front brake kit. It looks so good and was genuinely fun to methodically assemble one piece at a time.
I followed the instructions as closely as possible and double checked torque specs against the stock manual to make sure I was in the right range. I used blue thread locker throughout and will go back with a paint pen to mark all the hardware so I can quickly review everything after the first few test runs and confirm nothing has moved.
As I mentioned before, this is a first for me with this chassis and setup, but once you start putting the pieces together and understand how everything works, it starts to build its own momentum. There were definitely moments of hesitation and some personal doubt since this all needs to be done right the first time, but I kept double checking my work and specs, retracing steps, and making sure everything was aligned and to spec.
Up next, it’s time to mount the assembled brakes and struts to the chassis. Fun!!!
At last after months of prep and planning, a lot of reading, and going over all my tools and parts to make sure everything was ready, it’s finally time to install the T3 suspension.
I decided to focus on the entire front suspension and brake assembly first, making things a bit more manageable. Since I’m doing this at home on the weekends, I wanted to isolate the tasks into clear, manageable pieces and work methodically through the process.
Thankfully I’ve had experience doing similar modifications on my cars in the past, but every car and every brand has its own solutions and assembly methods, so it’s always best to understand the fundamentals before jumping in.
@technotoytuning has engineered some really clever ways of updating the S30 chassis suspension, adding a solid level of almost modular adjustability that can evolve with your driving style and needs. It was fun to see that come together as I started assembling everything.
For now, I’m going to set everything as neutral and balanced as possible. Once the car is corner weighted and dialed in, I’ll start making adjustments based on the driving characteristics I’m after. It’s really hard for me to plan that far ahead at this stage.
