We had to wait until this was officially announced. Due to complications from Andreas’ accident in Paris, he is not able to travel, and we are not able to perform at Waveteef. We had some hope that maybe we would be able to do the show, but it was determined by medical professionals that Andreas needs to fully recover.
We are very sorry we cannot be there to play for you guys as as we were really looking forward to it.
We all wish him a healthy recovery and we hope everyone has a great time at the festival with all those incredible acts on the bill 🖤

One of the very few times we actually opened for ourselves !
I had an EBM-ish side project called Disko Sektr and it was mostly instrumental. The promoter in Mexico City asked if we had an active side project to add to the bill. Andreas jumped in and wrote lyrics to a bunch of them and the live setup of Disko Sektr made its once and only appearance opening for Techniques Berlin !
It was a lot of fun, especially as people figured out it was us right away !

Andreas Gregor and I did this way back in 1988.
Our Christmas cover of Warm Leatherette. It wasn’t recorded under the name Techniques Berlin but rather “The Bombshelter Brigade”.

Metropolis has always been one of our most treasured songs,
yet it came together as a live improvisation many years ago.
We were playing a show in St. Catharines and we didn’t have a lot of songs in our repertoire. I had given Andreas a few demo sketches of just basslines and drum machine on a cassette.
He suggested we use a few of them live and just improvise over the sketches. He always carried a notebook and wrote some of the lyrics on the spot. I came up with the main lead riff on the spot as well, and the song was born.
We recorded it in a studio later that year ❤️
