And that’s a wrap on the 2025/26 season 💥
Tomorrow, we start the 2026/27 season with Physical Testing and sign on at Loughborough university, but before then there’s one more evening to reflect on an amazing last 12 months.
How do you sum it up in one post? To be honest, you can’t. We’ve had some unbelievable successes, on and off the slope, as well as challenges and hurdles to navigate on the way. However the team, as with every athlete we’ve had the pleasure of working with, continues to go from strength to strength as we tackle these challenges together.
We could point to individual results - and there’s been enough of those to write a pretty long list - but the reality of this season is that the moments that we are most proud of continue to be those where the team has pulled together and created memories far greater than any gold, silver or bronze medal. Just a few of these highlights include;
💥 Over £5000 raised for cancer research by athletes and parents as part of our annual Forest Run.
💥 Regaining the “Best Academy” award at the National Championships
💥 Multiple athletes selected to National Teams and Major events, often against the odds
💥 Alumni
@olliedavies_skicross competing at his second Olympic Games
💥 Wedding celebrations involving numerous ex-athletes from the past decade, showing the bonds and relationships that are built in this sport but continue to exist long after the racing has stopped.
There’s many, many more, from smiles on the ice rinks, football pitches and even classrooms, through to first time tricks landed on the trampoline, in the park or just a night with the team playing cards.
However, none of these memories or achievements would have been possible, or will continue to be possible for next years cohort of trainees, without the fantastic staff that we are fortunately enough to have lead the way. Often overlooked, under-appreciated and definitely hard working, our team of house parents, school tutors, chefs, ski coaches and support staff have helped make this year what it was - and so to them we say a massive thank you!
Who knows what next year will hold, but we’re excited to get started!
