A focused day of youth athlete development as part of the BMC Talent Pathway, held at City Bloc Leeds.
Young athletes and coaches came together for a day built around progression, effort and the future of the sport, with plenty of try hard, support and good energy in the room.
Big thanks to everyone involved, including @teambmc / England Climbing, @cityblocleeds , @dark_ventures , the setters, coaches and athletes.

37 empty poo bags, 153 plastic water bottles and a Nikon Camera… 📸
Last month, a team of 30 BMC volunteers removed 1,203 individual pieces of litter of Cwm Llwch on Pen y Fan.
With microplastic pollution significantly affecting delicate mountain ecosystems, we're working hard to remove single-use pollution from across England and Wales' most loved landscapes.
Our friends at @trashfreetrails helped us survey the items found, and the most common items were:
💩 Empty poo bags: 37
💧 Plastic water bottles: 153
🥫 Aluminium energy drink cans: 22
🍬 Confectionary sweet wrappers: 236
🥔 Crisp packets: 77
👕 Clothing: 93

Meet new Wildfire Engagement Officer, Damian. After a 30+ year career in the emergency services and he has already worked as a Fire Warden in Staffordshire. Damian will join the current, dedicated ranger team to spearhead public engagement and site monitoring on the Eastern Moors during the peak-risk season.
A staggering 81.22 hectares (114 football pitches) of Peak District peatland has been devastated by more than 12 wildfires in the Peak District’s Sheffield Moors area since 2018, at an estimated cost of £1.6 million to the UK economy. To combat this, the British Mountaineering Council (@teambmc ) has funded a Wildfire Engagement Officer for the Sheffield Moors area, working alongside @eastern_moors_partnership , @moorsforthefuture and @peakdistrictnationalpark . This new role supports the existing, highly skilled ranger team to address the escalating threat of wildfires caused by climate change, deliberate incidents and recreational fires.
If you spot smoke or flames, dial 999 immediately and ask for the fire service. If you can, provide a precise location using What3Words or a grid reference.
Don’t be deceived by wet weather; vegetation can dry out within the hour even after heavy rainfall, creating ideal wildfire conditions.
