Announcing the 2026 Indigenous Film Criticism Fellowship participants!
Curating Indigenous Circumpolar Cultural Sovereignty at York University, in partnership with the @banffcentre , imagineNATIVE, and the @aiff.no , is proud to announce the participants for the inaugural Indigenous Film Criticism Fellowship.
This new program supports emerging Indigenous writers who want to shape the future of criticism in Indigenous screen culture. It responds to the long-standing gap in writing about Indigenous film and recognizes that strong, informed criticism is essential to a thriving Indigenous screen industry.
Congratulations to the participants, Sonja Hammer, Cameron Watts, Mádeli Melissa Chá Sontay, Ninah Hermiston, Sunná Nousuniemi, and Dr. Bryan Kamaoli Kuwada. This Fellowship will be mentored by Janine Windolph, Jason Ryle, and Leo Koziol.

A rare moment where we used 100% of our brains to fake a death and pretend like there was another team pushing us. These bozos fell for the oldest trick in the book #arcraiders #arctaidersgameplay #ps5
Not EXACTLY true, but thats what all the racist fear mongering would try to tell you is happening. Im even seeing Vancouver realtors chiming on "whether or not aboriginal title and private land ownership can co-exist" 🤡
