Join us at Cannes and @marchedufilm for impACT | Arctic Storytelling and the New World Order | A Panel Presented by International Sámi Film Institute & Indigenous Screen Office. What happens when Arctic nations collaborate directly across borders, languages, and colonial histories to build a shared screen ecosystem? Which new narratives emerge when the Arctic is not a backdrop, but a point of view? And, how can Indigenous cinema support larger political movements? Through the lens of Indigenous cinema, these representatives and institutions will highlight how Indigenous organisations are • Reframing the Arctic from object to author • Building circumpolar creative alliances • Asserting narrative sovereignty alongside political sovereignty • Positioning the North as a global force in storytelling, not a niche 🗓 May 14, 11:30–12:30 📍 Palais Stage (Palais -1) & Online A conversation with Anne Lajla Utsi (ISFI), Kerry Swanson (ISO), Jason Ryle (AIFF), Emile Hertling Péronard (Ánorâk Film). Moderated by Melanie Nepinak Hadley (ISO). Come and listen and connect with us at Marché du Film! 💫 #mdf26 #marchedufilm #indigenouscinema #arctic #cannes2026

We're back with another spotlight on our ICA Producer Delegation for @cannes.docs in May! Meet our second producer, @inukjorgensen 🌸 Inuk (he/him) is an award-winning Inuit filmmaker from Greenland, based in Sweden. He has a background in short films and documentary content and also works as a consultant. He is an @efm_europeanfilmmarket Toolbox alumni, a graduate of the European AudioVisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE) producers workshop, and has been on the board of the Greenlandic Filmmakers’ association, @film.greenland , for several years. Through his work there Inuk has been involved in laying the foundation of the newly formed Film Institute of Greenland. Inuk grew up making short animations and videos in Greenland and even as an adult he is still committed to exploring his Inuit background, his culture, and language in his productions. He has a Master’s in film and language from the University of Aarhus (Denmark) where his thesis film won him and his production team several awards like Best Film at the annual awards show of the Information and Media Institute. Together with the team behind the controversial WHITE GOLD OF GREENLAND (2025) Inuk is developing a feature length documentary about "the Greenlandic Titanic”, the M/S Hans Hedtoft, which allegedly hit an iceberg on its maiden voyage and sank without a trace in 1959. The ship itself was built as a symbol of Danish neo-colonialism and a western power’s ability to conquer the Arctic. A tragedy of the event left an impact on both Danish and Greenlandic societies and, in the case of Greenland, these are still felt to this day. Inuk is also directing his first feature length documentary called THE SHIP THAT WASN'T THERE, which will release in late 2027. 🔍Learn more about Inuk at inuks.dk --- #MDF26 #MarcheDuFilm #ICAatMDF26 #IndigenousCinema #IndigenousStorytelling #NarrativeSovereignty #IndigenousFilmmakers #CannesDocs #CannesDocs26 #CoProSocialClub

ANNOUNCING 🏆 BEST LIVING WORLD FILM Red-Shaded Green This award can go to any film that explores a societal, cultural, conservationist or environmental theme. Historically it has gone to longer form projects, but this year the winner is under 5 minutes. But it makes the point. Drones soaring past wind turbines, peaceful protest and a haunting dialogue combine powerfully and poetically to expose how green energy has come at the expense of Sámi traditional life and culture. Director @johannesvang skilfully challenges the logic of combating climate change by replacing one form of destruction with another. 👆Watch at home with a Household Pass or see it on the big screen at one of our Community Events - Gavinton Village Hall, Duns, 7pm March 20th. #windturbines #northnorway #londonmountainfilmfestival

The world premiere of Witness III at @tamperefilmfestival took place before a sold-out theater and an incredibly engaged audience. 🎬✨ These films don’t just witness the front lines of climate change – they are a call to action. They showcase the resilience of Arctic Indigenous communities and the vital importance of taking care of each other, our nature, and our future, together. ❄️🌍 @aiff.no and @indigenousscreen PRESENT TAMATTA ATAQATIGIIPPUGUT Director: Arina Kleist Producer: Princess Daazhraii Johnson SUKKAILLUTIT UQARUK Director: Ashley Qilavaq-Savard Producer: Sara Beate Eira VUOGÁIDUVVAN Director: Aslak Paltto Producer: Sadetło Scott & Marc Fussing Rosbach DENEEGE LEŁ GHU KK’OTS’EEDENEEYH TE HEŁ HOOZOONH TS’E DENOTS’EDENEEYH Director: Brittany Woods-Orrison Producer: Sadetło Scott Photo credit: @laurajetten #WitnessIII #ArcticIndigenousVoices #IndigenousCinema #ClimateAction #ArcticNarratives

🪶 🪶 🪶 Congratulations to Brittany Woods-Orrison and to Arina Kleist on the premiere of their short films "Deneege Leł Ghu Kk’ots’eedeneeyh Te Heł Hoozoonh Ts’e Denots’edeneeyh" (We Get Better When We Tan Moose Hides) and Tamatta Ataqaptigiippugut (We Are All Connected) @tamperefilmfestival in Finland! "This film was made out of the love that pours over when working on hides with my mentor Kathleen. Our communities are struggling as the world is struggling, yet I remain hopeful for the world as I spend more time with the spirit of the animals - they remain with the hide until the final smoke." ~Director Brittany Woods-Orrison Both of these Indigenous women approach their work with so much love and care and pure poetry! We look forward to seeing many more stories from them and their communities. We are so incredibly grateful to be a part of the Witness Program community run by the Arctic Indigenous Film Fund and program producers and mentors, Liisa Holmberg, Jason Ryle, Darlene Naponse, and Amee Kim-Cuoung Lê. It's Women's History Month and we want to uplift all the Indigenous media makers out there who are telling these stories (often using our own languages) that help us share out our truths, our unique perspectives, our hearts, and the values of our rich cultures! #IndigenousWomen #Filmmakers #Arctic #ClimateStories #ImpactProducing
