“KINSUGI” — a pre visualization. Photographed for @87northaction . I remember watching Bullet Train in the middle of the pandemic—it helped me realize my life needed to change. All I knew was I had to the go to the source and find where stunt people started. The idea of “joining all movement” and documenting the people that did it somehow got me full circle at the most important transition my career as a unit photographer —taking me into the house where it all began. Much like 87NORTH’s films, Star Wars began my love for films and swordplay. Much like 87N, my time learning with Lucasfilm gave me my start, setting precedent that dreams weren’t so out of reach. Now, I get to apply that same mentality as a student to what we do here and support a traditionally undocumented group of the most hardworking group of people I’ve met in the industry the process. It’s continuously a pinch me moment coming back and growing with the best, honoring what came before us, and adding a little of the new generation of performers and camera operators have to offer. PreVis Fight Concept: GLADIATORS • • • Back in January, @johntieng and I taught a short sword 2v1 style fight for our advanced class on Sundays as a month long project. We thought it would be fun to conceptualize the fight with shields as well, and ended up creating a Gladiator style setup for this Pre Vis. THIS TOO, IS FLOW • • • The River effortlessly snakes through hills and valleys via the path of least resistance. This is Flow. Often, especially in the valleys, we question whether we’re moving at all. Whether the effort will ever become something that feels like it’s…enough. What if it’s all worth it? What if every step you took was preparing you for the work worth doing? What if the hours spent on your craft over the course of decades, was meant to lead you to something fulfilling? What if the work was never about arriving, but learning to walk the Way with open eyes, wherever it led? 2025 was definitely a rollercoaster for me. Mostly by design of the choices I made. I’m grateful for all of the opportunities to grow, painful as they may be, but there’s definitely a lot left to learn. And that’s okay. re:frame winter 001 photographed for @thisisframework My first stage [a phase of training, pronounced stahj] in the world of live music photography is with @thisisframework — who, thanks to my extended family at @bluegroundstudios ] has allowed me to cover their ReFrame: Winter Season over the next month. Last night; I got to photograph three incredible artists — @marckinchen , @jadenthompson_ , and @itssweetlikechocolate — and experience the warmth of the dance community. Over the next seven shows with the top talent in the world of dance and electronic, I hope to continue seeking discomfort pushing forward my growth, meeting new relationships, and continuing to create opportunities for myself I never thought possible. All it takes is the right yes. Back in the day, in 2014, my first experience was a show with Gorgon City, Disclosure, and Diplo. Ever since, I’ve had the itch to make live music a constant part of my career. The right time happened to be now. Thank you to the owners of @bluegroundstudios , Mia, @katiedaryl for making this possible—and my many friends for making my first time in the club scene a little less daunting. More to come!
