I am grateful. I also extend my gratitude to @aganguzza , whose podcast, VO BOSS has been a beacon of guidance, and her featuring me on one of the episodes made me a co-nominee on the podcast category; @heyooself , who has referred me several times for gigs, trusting my ability as a voice talent; and @pdubs2020 , my amazing voice director who casted me for one of the biggest gigs I’ve done this year with the Gates foundation. Finally, I say thank you to all who have been supportive of my journey, including friends, family, students, teammates and my online community. Your support goes a long way. I woke up to this video where Veteran Voice actor, and President of the Association of Voiceover Artists (Nigeria), @avoa_nigeria , @officialsegunarinze mentioned my name as one of the front-liners of the voiceover industry in Nigeria, on one of the top broadcast networks in the country. I was shocked at first, then I uttered these words, “Did Segun Arinze just mention Tcode as one of the front-liners of the VO industry in Nigeria?” I listened again and confirmed my ears and sight served me right.😭 Small me recognized amongst the greats! The feeling is surreal.🥹 This recognition mean a lot to me. I can’t begin to explain how invested my heart has been to this industry and how much I have committed my time, energy and resources to it. It’s mostly a lonely road and sometimes I ask myself, ‘Who sent you’. But that’s a story for another though. However, I am so grateful to God for the grace to contribute my quota to the industry and for helping build this career. I’m also grateful to @officialsegunarinze for this recognition. Thank you sir. Your words renewed my energy and commitment. It can only get better. Let’s all keep doing what we can to grow our craft and leave our industry in a better place than we met it. At the very least, endeavour to acquire the right knowledge about voiceovers. That way, you have the right knowledge the spread to your peers and those coming after. You don’t grow by staying where you are praised. You grow where you are corrected. Over the weekend, I was reminded of something I deeply believe in— investment in self is not optional… it’s necessary. Not just financially. But in discipline. In humility. In showing up to be refined. I stepped into the VO Jumpstart course with TCode not as a beginner, but as a student of knowledge… willing to be stretched. And what stood out the most? Not the applause. But the honesty. The way he teaches—with clarity, intention, and attention to each individual made it impossible to hide behind comfort. Learning that my voice still carries a regional weight. Understanding that clarity is not automatic—it is trained. Realizing that balance matters… between my English, Yorùbá, and Arabic expression.
