Crown of Aragorn - V13 🧙🏼♂️🧝♂️🧌🧔🏼🧔🏻🧑🏻🌾🧑🏻🌾🧑🏻🌾🧑🏻🌾💍
💥 F L A S H 💥
I’ve been coming to Hueco for almost a decade now, and when I first started coming I’d barely climbed double digits let alone V13. That first trip in 2016 I rather foolishly pulled into Full Monty at the end of a long day and a friend remarked that I probably would’ve had a chance at flashing if I’d just saved it for later. With those words in mind there are several 8B’s around the park I’ve never touched throughout the years. Perhaps a bit bold to not even pull onto something above your current limit but 8B’s so in style are few and far between and flashes are unforgiving. That little bit of forethought paid off on this one.
Truth be told these days I’m less concerned with achievements like this, and more psyched to push my difficulty ceiling as high as I can before I age out, so I wonder if it would have been better to have done these boulders earlier, but nice to demonstrate some execution skills. Also nice to tick off V13 number 50 finally (I’ve been above 45 for almost two years now).
Couple cool things I done this summer for the ol LinkedIn for being a cool dude page
1. Flew the plane, and got to wear the hat too!
2. Two week ceramics workshop at Penland, met really cool people, did cool work, 11/10 experience. See the art account for more pics
3. Went on the local news (Channel 4 CBS) to hype up the Summer Art Market. “He put more effort into that conversation than any he ever has with me” - my sisters best friend of 15+ years
4. Summer Art Market. Excellent show this year despite a staph infection in my knee. Huge shout out to @caitlin.throwingthings@mary.teschner and @jillshihceramics for helping with set up and tear down as I could not have done that solo
Hopefully back to rocks soon
The Phoenix V14 🦅🔥🐥 Little disappointed I don’t get to keep trying this one but quite nice to get back to climbing after a winter spent limping around. 🤳 @tanner_bauer1
Little throwback to before I broke my leg (no, not immediately before). In hindsight running it solo was maybe not the best idea but I got to enjoy the very peaceful desert oasis solo also. Zen Garden V10
💃🏼Sarchasm 5.14a🕺🏻
Been wanting to try this one since originally moving to Colorado ten years ago, but could never tear myself away from the boulders. Very glad to have finally put the effort in to get up there to get my fingers on it. I am glad not to have to wake up so early again tho. It took a little bit to get beta sorted and get my lead game back since it’s been six years since my last 5.14 (discounting The Fly) by got it done before the season closed. Rowland on the pic, belays, and vibes. One for Aleksey to be proud of.

Sometimes an old flame turns out to be more than just a fling. Didn’t think I’d be taking it this far when I signed up for a class last summer but here we are and I’ve enjoyed every bit of it. Thanks to everyone who came by to support my first market at @artstudentsleaguedenver Shout out @marykathrynceramics for being an incredible booth mate (even if you did refuse to take the silly photos). Excited to see what comes next
