The world knew the legend. Few knew the man.
Here is the official poster for the new documentary LOMU, directed by Vea Mafileāo and Gavin Fitzgerald. LOMU is a complex and deeply human portrait of Jonah Lomu - the most adored son of the Pacific and a legendary All Black - whose extraordinary talent and presence transcended rugby and reshaped the global game.
The film will have its NZ premiere screening as the Centrepiece film at WhÄnau MÄrama NZ International Film Festival 2026, on Sat 1 August at The Civic in TÄmakai Makaurau Auckland. Additional screening info to come. Further announced today, LOMU will also have its Australian premiere at Sydney Film Festival in June.
Stay tuned for more info on LOMU.
Term 2 classes start on Monday, 20 April (New Lynn Community Centre) and Wednesday 22 April , (Taro Patch Creative, Papatoetoe).

š±NEW TO THE PATCH FAMILI š±
Talofa lava, MÄlÅ e lelei, Kia ora whÄnau!
Iām Yolanda Maletino, you can call me Landa or Lanny for short š
I am a proud Samoan/MÄori, born and raised in Manurewa, South Auckland.
A fitness instructor of 6 years, mum of one, DJ, and competitive bodybuilder, so life keeps me busy, blessed, and always moving.
Our sessions will focus on mobility, stretching, and slow, controlled strengthening, gentle, joint-friendly movements that help our bodies feel supported, balanced, and free.
Everything we do is about safety, confidence, and moving in a way that feels good for you.
I love serving and creating a space that feels like family, a place where we can move together, look after one another, and show up just as we are.
And just to share my heart with you: Iām a woman of God, and I keep him at the forefront of everything I do. My hope is that you feel that love, warmth, and gentleness in every session.
Iām truly excited and grateful for the chance to move with our Taro Patch Creative community, and I canāt wait to meet you all soon.
Alofa atu and blessings, whÄnau.

Happy Motherās Day ā¤ļø
This one feels different⦠honestly one of the most special moments weāve ever had running our small business JS Carvings. The whole things still feels surreal.
We had the privilege of collaborating with, in my opinion, the most gifted music group to come out of Aotearoa, @adeaze.music š¤ Thank you uso Nainz and your beautiful kids for coming through and singing a tribute for your mum/grandma, her favourite worship song. You could feel her presence in that moment.
While they sang, I hand carved our signature Pacific frame to capture her beautiful memory. Thatās what this is about for me⦠more than art, more than sales. Itās about capturing stories and moments that really matter.
Weāll be releasing the full song next week, but for now we just hope this tribute can honour all of our mamas that have passed on and are still here who give everything they have, every single day for their families.
I know Iād be nothing without my mum. And I know so many of us are so lucky to feel the same way.
Big thank you again to Adeaze for trusting us with this, and a special recognition to @lilman_aaron from @_islandthings you didnāt have to show up the way you did, but you did. Your heart and your vision⦠you captured this tribute exactly how it deserved to be told. Forever grateful uso.
And a huge huge thank you to @taropatchcreative for allowing to utilise their most beautiful space to do this. It was PERFECT š
Much love to all the mums ā¤ļø
