Come down to Silo 6 this Thursday for an evening of live music celebrating some of Aotearoa’s emerging young artists as part of NZ Music Month.
Featuring artist alumni from Stand Up Stand Out (SUSO), an Auckland Council initiative that provides an important pathway in development for rangatahi. Promoting song writing, musicianship, dance performance excellence and a culture of music in schools throughout the Tāmaki Makaurau region.

📚 One of our team visited Wellington’s newly reopened central library, Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui, over Easter and was shown around the impressive rebuild by Te Ngākau Civic Square Programme Manager Farzad Zamani.
It's an outstanding addition to the capital’s city centre. Its reopening has clearly lifted the area after the building closed in 2019.
A few features really stood out: design lead Rangi Kipa’s contribution, the addition of more windows and views to the street, and the removal of pillars and plinths so the nikau palm trees now create a beautiful connection between earth and sky. The hoardings proudly feature designs submitted by young people for new library cards were another thoughtful touch, bringing community voices directly into the project.
The last image in this carousel shows our own Richard Davison (Priority Location Director) and Sahar Lone (Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor) on site some months ago at the site of Te Hono - a new library, community hub and upgraded town centre, to see concrete being poured, a great reminder of a similar kaupapa across our cities.
It’s inspiring to see the parallels between this project and the one we’re delivering in Avondale which we are designing with a five-star Green Star rating (NZGBC). Congratulations to Wellington and @wgtncc on this milestone, and a special acknowledgement to @athfieldarchitects , who we’re also proud to be working with on Te Hono.
We’re looking forward to bringing Avondale its own landmark community space in mid‑2027 ✨

🛠️ Following a delay to parts of the construction site, the Waiapu Precinct works are back into full swing from mid-May
We will now resume work on the lower level near the shops from Meat World along to Angkor Bakery. This includes completing the trench for underground services, building kerbs, gardens, drainage and the new vehicle entrance from Church Street.
Work to build the new roadway on Gerrard Beeson Place has been continuing. We will now recommence work on the tree pit near Anytime Fitness and progress towards completing the new road. We expect to open access from Arthur Street in July.
Work has progressed on the retaining walls and stairs that connect the lower level to the middle level.

Last week we marked a special milestone with a blessing at Northcote Library, where Northcote’s new community hub will soon take shape ✨
It was a chance to acknowledge the library’s incredible legacy and its dedicated staff, who have supported the community for more than 40 years, and to celebrate the collective mahi that’s brought this much-anticipated project to life — with construction starting next week.
Opening in late 2027, the new community hub will bring together:

The future-focused building has a world-leading sustainable design, including solar power, rainwater reuse, recycling of building materials and energy-efficient features.
