A year ago I did a project which changed my photography. It combined all the things I love; nature, process, dance, and left me in a contemplative space.
The project I shot was by Kiori Kawaii and Aaron Sherwood
@purring_tiger . MUJO (無常) is about impermanence; how everything we build, feel, and identify with is always forming and falling apart.
Photographing this work meant stepping into that idea. The choreography, sound, and projected visuals on the dunes were designed to assemble and disassemble in real time, so the camera wasn’t there to freeze something perfect, but to catch moments already in the process of changing.
I felt like I was part of the composition; climbing up and down the dunes; just like the dancers, and finding the moments of change, chaos and quietness to capture.
The Abu Dhabi desert became home to us for a week, and the dunes; our canvas. It's hard to move on from such a profound project, and sitting on this for a year felt right.
In 2026, I’ll be sharing more projects like this that bridge the gap between my documentary, editorial and commercial work.
