薩莫拉諾雙人展 2026.05.23 — 07.18 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 05.23 Saturday 4—7 PM TAO ART presents 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘙𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴, a duo exhibition featuring Chinese artist Xie Fan and Mexican artist Dennis Miranda Zamorano, in collaboration with Marguo (@marguo__ ), opening next Saturday. “This marks TAO ART’s first dual exhibition. Compared to previous projects, it involves a more complex process of collaboration across Taipei, Paris, Chendu, and Mexico City, requiring significantly more time, research, and dialogue to bring it together. We are honored to invite Fan and Dennis to take part in this project, which I’ve long wanted to explore. The exchange between different cultures and creative approaches has always been at the heart of TAO ART. While their works may seem quite different at first glance, we discovered unexpected connections and shared sensibilities between them.” — Vicky Chen, Founder of TAO ART “𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘙𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴 began with a simple observation: that Xie Fan and Dennis Miranda Zamorano, despite everything that separates them, are both trying to hold something luminous still. It helps, perhaps, that both come from fiery places — Sichuan and Mexico share an intensity that runs through culture, landscape, and the senses alike. One channels it into patience and earth; the other into urgency and chance. Taipei understands both. We bring this exhibition here because it belongs here.” — Vanessa Guo, Co-founder & partner of Marguo TAO ART — Vanessa Guo (Co-founder & partner of Marguo) ● #XieFan #謝帆

Upcoming: Xie Fan and Dennis Miranda Zamorano 2026.05.23 — 07.18 We are pleased to present 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘙𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴, a duo exhibition of new works by Chinese artist Xie Fan (@xiexiexiefan ) and Mexican artist Dennis Miranda Zamorano (@dennis_mirandaa ), in collaboration with Galerie Marguo (@marguo__ ), opening on 23 May. Xie Fan’s 𝘊𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘴 (2026) is a series of terracotta works inspired by early forms of painting on pottery vessels, tracing the movements of sun and moon, and our relationship to the universe. Dennis Miranda Zamorano’s imaginative landscapes are suffused with colour and light, drawing the viewer in through their depth and immensity of feeling. From distinct positions, both artists approach painting as language and practice, unfolding across multiple dimensions between perception and materiality. Their works converge in a shared impulse: to hold what light reveals, and let the image take shape in its organic form. Zamorano has said that both he and Xie understand the importance of “trusting the material to speak.” Within this dialogue, we glimpse inner worlds of perception manifested through painting, where remnants of light linger long after the encounter. ● #XieFan #DennisMirandaZamorano

While referencing the aesthetics of old Hollywood, a physical, almost slapstick narrative takes shape; the vulnerabilities of the human body and the eccentricities of costume become comedic and charming. Cecily, the protagonist  in a pink dress (portrayed by Katherine Waterston), appears to be the only conscious witness and draws us into her emotional experience with her performance, anchoring the spectacle in a fragile moment of recognition where the impact of the film’s tragic dimension is finally felt. As 𝘙𝘶𝘯 (2022) oscillates between tragedy and comedy and destabilizes any fixed narrative or emotional response, the mirrored ball reveals an uncanny reality beyond ordinary perception. Its eerie presence communicates with the audience as through a dream.  The exhibition also includes the image 𝘚𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘱 (2022), an image shot in tandem with the film 𝘙𝘶𝘯 (2022). In fact, the composition depicts a carefully staged moment—an absurdist scene, potent in its ambivalence. Actors from the film lie scattered on the ground, and the ambiguity of what may have just occurred transforms the image. Here, the tension between moving and still image formats comes into focus, prompting questions about how we perceive, imagine, and remember.

The work of Los Angeles-based artist and filmmaker Alex Prager (@alexprager ) is often as visually stunning as it is unsettling. She masterfully stages moments of subtle tension, produced through exaggerated, performative surfaces that push stylisation into something faintly grotesque. If Hollywood functions as a dream machine that channels shared fantasies, it also reveals our desire for illusion to cope with the violence of lived reality. In 𝘌𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, Prager’s signature visual language holds this tension in suspension, never allowing one to resolve the other. video produced by Meru Media Studio 芥質影音工作室 #AlexPrager #EchoesofDissonance #taoartspace ALEX PRAGER ECHOES OF DISSONANCE 2026.03.07—05.02 艾莉克斯. Exhibition in collaboration with @lehmannmaupin

With a hypersensitivity to the tension between artifice and reality, Alex Prager’s(@alexprager ) practice explores the possibilities inherent in subtle shifts of perception, as well as how mass imagery influences our sense of self and belonging. In photographs such as 𝘙𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘰 𝘔𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦 (𝘓𝘰𝘪𝘴) (2019), 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘺𝘸𝘰𝘰𝘥 (𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵) (2024), and 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘺𝘸𝘰𝘰𝘥 (𝘋𝘢𝘺) (2024), Prager stages psychologically-charged vignettes that foster a vague sense of familiarity while omitting narrative specifics.

Imges

Building on the dialogue initiated in Christina Liu’s 2025 solo exhibition 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 at TAO ART, the artist extends her ceramic practice into the architectural setting of Grand Hilai Sun Moon Lake. In her site-specific installation 𝘈𝘣𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘰𝘮(2025), Liu transforms the Tea House walls into a fluid, unfolding composition. Drawing inspiration from schools of fish—symbols of vitality and abundance—the work captures the graceful, rhythmic movement of fish along the expansive lakeside. Situated between natural landscape and abstract form, the installation invites viewers into a quiet, immersive experience, attuned to the subtle sensibilities of the space.

TAO ART is delighted to present 𝘌𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, an exhibition bringing together a selection of works by Los Angeles-based artist and filmmaker Alex Prager. This marks Prager’s first solo exhibition in Taiwan, presented in collaboration with Lehmann Maupin (@lehmannmaupin ), opening on March 7, 2026. This exhibition includes her recent short film 𝘙𝘶𝘯, featuring Katherine Waterston. Part catastrophe, part tragicomedy, the film transforms the urban landscape into a large-scale pinball machine, precisely choreographed and meticulously staged. Referencing the aesthetics of old Hollywood, a physical, almost slapstick narrative takes shape; the vulnerabilities of the human body and the eccentricities of costume become comedic and charming. Alex Prager’s work is often as visually stunning as it is unsettling, known for its masterfully staged moments of suspense and fabricated, stylised imagery. 𝘌𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 illuminates Prager’s hypersensitivity to the tension between artifice and reality, exploring the possibilities inherent in subtle shifts of perception.
