Als ehemalige Justizvollzugsbeamtin in Manchester erlebte Tamara Höfer, wie viel Potenzial in der Arbeit mit inhaftierten Personen steckt. Nach Stationen bei den Vereinten Nationen und in der englischen Strafvollzugsforschung gründete Höfer 2022 den gemeinnützigen Verein Richtungswechsel. Die Organisation versteht sich als Katalysator für Systemwandel im Strafvollzug – durch Leadership-Trainings, internationale Kooperation und evidenzbasierte Programme. Richtungswechsel ist hauptsächlich EU-finanziert und arbeitet an Projekten wie Resize, einem bis 2029 angelegten Qualifikationsrahmen für Vollzugspersonal in ganz Europa. Yesterday, I got to host and moderate the very first Austrian Youth Custody Conference in Salzburg together with my team from @richtungswechsel.at & @kija_salzburg with over 120 participants from 16 different countries. A year ago, Cornelia Grünwald and I were envisioning this event - getting together national and international stakeholders to discuss the @rescaled_movement and the opportunities for Youth Detention. Subsequently, I acquired funding and @eva_corn_ and I started organising: speaking to stakeholders, creating our materials, curating the content. To see so many people from government representatives, criminal justice and youth practitioners, the Ombudsman’s Office, judges & lawyers, and Civil Society come together to be inspired and go into the future with vision and pragmatism. 🙏🏼 Proper recap to follow 🔜 ©️ Franz Neumayr

There are moments in a journey that feel symbolic because of what they represent. Today, as we begin Day 1 at @anifilmfestival 2026, Moonshot finds itself in one of those moments. Being in Liberec, the hometown of our founder, @yemialchemist , brings a certain weight to this gathering. It’s a reminder that what exists today as a global community started as something much smaller: a lived experience, a question, a belief that young people deserve space to shape the world around them. Now, that belief is embodied by eight young leaders who have travelled here from across the world and here in the Czech Republic to share their stories. Each of them is building solutions at the intersection of technology, creativity and social impact. Gathered to ask you one question: What if we get it right? The question asks us to consider what becomes possible when those closest to the problems are given the platform, trust and resources to lead. Moonshot itself is a reflection of that possibility. @tamara_hoefer ist Expertin für Strafvollzug, studierte dafür in England "Security and Crime" Sciences. Nach ihrer Arbeit als Justizwachebeamtin gründete sie mit "Richtungswechsel" eine Organisation, die sich um die Rehabilitation von Inhaftierten kümmert. We all make demands for how the justice system should handle law breakers, but how often do we think of the staff that works in the prisons and institutions meant to bring about reform ? The winner of our 2024 Learning Award, @tamara_hoefer works diligently, through her organisation @richtungswechsel.at , to support and build the capacity of the staff, most often ignored. We consider ourselves blessed to have contributed to the impact they achieved!

The Art & Life of Albie Sachs“ is an honour I will always treasure. ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏿 His fight for freedom for the people is an inspiration to us all. Thank you @joshinraghubar for everything. „It was a car bomb. I collapsed into darkness, but with a sense of euphoria. I’d survived. For many decades, every single day in the freedom struggle, wondering, ‘If they come for me today, if they come for me tomorrow morning, will I be brave? Will I survive?‘ They’d come for me and I’d got through.“

2025 has been an amazing and turbulent year. However, whatever happens I have @r4phi_yasar by my side and that‘s my favourite part of every year 🥰 It probably takes a village to grow an organisation. Thank you for being part of my village ♥️

What society is echoing back? It’s been a busy year at @richtungswechsel.at but it’s been incredible to see so many dedicated people who echo that people in prison require support. This is not a question of who do we prioritise, this is a question of safer societies, of better outcomes for all. Europe is shifting, are you?
