On Jan 3rd I lost my laptop and hard drives with TODO. All my stems to a bunch of projects I’ve been on for two years, vocal experiments, recordings of friends and environments, streams of consciousness, Spanish demos, hundreds of ableton projects. I took a much needed break to regroup and ground in my London flat and the sitting on empty has brought on a new found appreciation for craft. In a really conflicting way, it’s taken all the pressure off somehow. I naturally am gutted at having lost all the magic takes and moments with people that generously and intentionally shared their practice with me and am still yet to reach out to everyone that’s on the drive as the list is mammoth. But all this to say, I am so deeply grateful for the moments lost on the drives that have built me up to where I am now. The people and friends that put music and art on their altars and never fail to inspire, challenge & help us. I came into the year an appreciator, and as of today, an architect with a hard hat and double backed up hard drives. Day 1 flirt 🌴

This year has been non stop. I’ve spent more time on stage, in airports and tour buses than at home. It’s been my favourite place to be. I think I’ve sung every single day. My mind and body, & spirit took a bit of a hit post tour, as I’m told is often the case. I find it really difficult to rest and restore, I didn’t. But thankfully, I was invited in for one isolated show with MS in Mexico City between tours and music making, I managed to carve out a week there and rest. It instantly has become my favourite tour stop. Being Canaria, having a reason to speak Spanish all day and engage with local traditions, artisans, cocineros and culture is the closest thing to feeling at home. Estoy enamorada de este hermoso país. Thank you Mexico, por recargarme las pilas. Gracias a todas las personas acogedoras que me enseñaron sus recetas. Can’t wait to return.

Skincare on the road can be really hard to nail & this year it’s become something I’ve loved learning more about. It’s easily become my most cherished grounding ritual 🍵🍵🍵 Recently I’ve been using @theinkeylist as I’m big on simple ingredients and I’ve been able to pick it up easily at any @sephora . My favourite addition to my kit is The Oat Cleansing Balm as it melts all my show makeup away in seconds while remaining super gentle.
